Green will not go first. The likely scenario, is that Pistons will pick Cade with #1 and The Rockets will pick Green with #2. Then the Pistons will ask the Rockets, if you want Cade, then you need to give up assets, otherwise we are keeping Cade.
They probaly want KPJ so they can pair up Green and KPJ with the Pistons instead of the Rockets. Cade plays PG and what better scenario for both teams except I'm more intrigue with Green and KPJ as Rockets.
Desire is everything for a top pick. Look at Ben never improved Simmons….. work ethic may be the most important “skill” when everyone has equal talent at the top. Mobley isn’t aggressive at all - Green is already demanding to make practices longer and staying afterwards to the point coaches like Brian Shaw are telling him no ?!
Fair enough. In terms of the absolute probability of becoming the best player of the class, it's not good. But in terms of the probability of becoming the best player of the class relative to the other draft positions, it's the best. And in terms of the probability of becoming a very good player, it's very high. In other words, if you want to pick a franchise player, your best chance is the first pick. It doesn't even need to be the best player of this class. Look at Olajuwon. It is debatable whether he is the best of his class. (I know most people outside of the Rockets fanbase would say MJ was the best.) But he absolutely is worthy of the first pick. Some classes have multiple great players. This year may be one of those years. The Rockets organization is abysmal. But at least we are lucky to be tanking in the right year.
Mentality can be the difference between a talented but not that great player and a generational player. Look at my sig. Intelligence and character are the most underrated talents in the NBA. The league is littered with gifted players who don't have the mentality to be great. I don't follow college ball, so I don't really know any of these guys. Suggs appears to have the best mental makeup among the top 4 guys. But he also is the most limited in terms of natural talent. Simply put, natural talent gives you the ceiling. Mentality takes you to the ceiling. When you are seeking a franchise player, you want a very high ceiling, and you also want a guy who is likely to have the mentality to reach that ceiling.
Except Garuba actually looks built for The NBA , while Mobley is a thin boi... We have one of them already.
Gives me LeBron James vibes.... Of the Spanish league thou, Spanish league only Lebron type... I'd say take him at 23... He could be our future Spanish Capela...
Garuba is very nice player but at 6'8 is an undersized 5. Name me just 1 publication calling Garuba Unicorn. Take your time, I'll be here.
I don't have the exact number of course, but I feel like it's fairly common for the best player 5 years after the draft ends up being someone else selected in the top 10 (or maybe even later) as opposed to the consensus #1 pick. But of course, if I could predict the future I would be making millions of dollars as an NBA GM and in the stock market.
He is taller than Tucker (6'5") and he will back up Wood at PF.....some Center in Small-Ball lineups. Name me one Center that weighs under 220 that starts significant minutes for the length of a season? Take your time, I will be waiting. and don't tell me we are going to put Mobley on a weight gaining program similar to the one Nerlens Noel, N Claxton, Brandon Ingram, Thon Maker were on. If the idea is to get Mobley to 230 plus pounds, why? Bassey is already there.
