I believe Utah would do it because Martin would resign in Utah and I think Jefferson would sign long term here. They have also Millsap, Kanter and Favors so Jefferson is expendable. For some reason it seems Jefferson is the odd man out from that group. Also Smith would give us a proven star (not a super star) as opposed to the unknown with the Toronto pick. I think Smith would sign here as well.

Granted I agree, we may get a star with that Toronto pick as well but we would have to wait for him to develop and not guaranteed that we get the pick next year. Would get us closer to contention sooner as opposed to waiting for the Toronto pick to pan out.

He is still a very good player and very potent on offensive end, His price tag pretty much depends on how the front office will make the deal.

Trade him before the season or earlier in the season or keep him and let his contract expire.

this guy would average 10 ppg if he played in the 80s & 90s.

this guy's shameless excessive flopping sickens me.

Kevin Martin will be our starting shooting guard for the whole year and will likely be resigned on a reasonable deal. Dude is a powerful scorer, he's just not a centerpiece.

Nah. Lamb is the future SG. And I don't see martin signing here to back him up.

I got no hate for Martin, but I think it's pretty clear he won't be back after this year (even he's said as much). Because the goal this year is player development, not wins and loses, the only benefit of having him on the team is his experience; and playing him will come at the expense of a better draft pick and valuable minutes for Lamb. That's why I'd rather move him. Don't get me wrong, I respect him; but he doesn't fit with a rebuilding team.

If not traded, he will probably average 30+ a game on this team. He and Linn should be good for 60 most nights.

He wont be back. Lamb will take over next year at the SG. I think he should have a good year. On this team someone has to score. Besides he is going to showcase himself for his next contract, but he will be out of Houston either by the deadline or we just let his contract expire.

I have long been on record that his value on this board is sorely overrated. I would not be shocked if he plays the first half of the year and is cut/benched after the deadline passes. I can not see a team trading anything of note (and more importantly, anything morey values) for kevin.

CUT?? If Daryl can get something out of Thabeet and Flynn and squeeze a first rounder out of Jordan Hill, I think he can get some compensation for K Mart.

let him pad his stats up till the trade deadline to increase his value, I could see him average around 25 pts if he's the primary scoring option

They should let him play out his contract. Lamb could still get a lot of minutes. They could definitely use as many scoring options as possible.

I'm inclined to agree, but there are counter-examples as well (Lowry, Scola).
