What does the putative new owner think? Hmm, tough to know...or even guess.

Trading for Rudy Gay would be dumb beyond comprehension.

He ain't going to be happy backing up JLin. That's a toxic contract locker-room wise and I wouldn't go near it with a 10ft pole.

I agree, we do have lots of rookies but it's beyond clear that Martin needs to be moved. If you cant get a solid foundational piece, the next best thing is more prospects or draft picks. The latter two are at least great for trading up.

I could think of a lot worse wing rotations then Gay, Parsons and Lamb

Especially if we can get some picks out of it.

Makes no sense for either team. Why would toronto.need three shooting guards..and what is calderon going to do for us other than an expiring.

I suspect he is traded for an underperforming young player hoping to get a late bloomer.

His trade value is not going to go up on this team. Kevin McHale is not going to play him or they're going to continue have issues. He is not going to do well in this system and his trade value is going to go down.

Would you trade Martin, Lamb, and Raptors 1st for James Harden?

    They never had any issues.

    Stop making things up.

One hundred percent correct. Martin must be moved before training camp. Every game he struggles, or doesn't find minutes, or doesn't get touches is going to diminish his value even further.

good assessment... but I'd rather upgrade players...
    a. I would take DWill - i know another forward tweener but I still think his upside is through the roof....send out a pf or two to even out - could also help at sf...add one of their extra pgs - which would be an upgrade...
    b. last resort...
    c. Love to get JSmith - and send a couple pfs out to even out...
    d. another last resort and go into full tank mode...
    e. Love to get Big Al....

Funny how some people view Martin like he's 32 years old or something.

And why is Kevin McHale not going to play him? We have one other shooting guard, and he's a rookie. Martin will get minutes, good minutes. At this point, he is the best offensive threat and frankly is currently the best player on the team.

say what you want about K-mart. when healthy*, he has the potential to get 30, any given night, AND at a high efficiency (most nights).

his attitude isn't great, but would you be happy if you were a border-all star during the deterioration of the kings'-post Adelemen era?? THEN, finally get traded to a team with a top 2 center and good pieces to make solid play off runs for the then, foreseeable future...only to have it completely crumble in a matter of only a bit over 2 seasons?

his butt-buddy, Courtney Lee shipped out as well.

Yes. In a heartbeat. I'd throw in Royce as well if needed. Harden about to turn 23 this month and is the best young SG in the league.

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Ppat
    Asik

He's going to be fantastic for us this year until he's shipped out at the deadline for picks. Personally, I think the character issues are completely overblown. Him and Lin are really going to be something to watch.

I feel like his future depends on this team's performance early on. We don't know if we could sneak into the playoffs or end up in the lottery right now. If we suck early on, he will be shipped away at the deadline for spare parts. If we start out the gate looking like we might make the playoffs, I could see him playing out the end of the year and letting him walk.

Absolutely. Most of the scoring this season is going to come from our starting backcourt.

Martin is vastly overrated by many Rockets fans IMO. He has the ability to score 25+ points a night. His defense was also tremendously improving this season. Think about it.

This was one of his worst seasons to date, highly in part to having little time to adjust to a new head coach who didn't use his talents well, and a shoulder injury plagued him most of the season. And he still averaged 17 points a game (which is more then Jamees Harden).

He can get to the line at will, he is a good outside shooter, and also is great at driving to the bucket and finishing. I expect most of our scoring to come from the combo of Lin-Martin. Lin is great at making his teammates better, and might bring out the best in Martin. I have a feeling when the trade deadline rolls around, a lot of you guys will be having second thoughts of trading him away.
