So what exactly is the league's stance on flopping?

    every team is gonna have someone that flops every now and then...it's become part of the game. but i agree with most of you that about 80% of dirk's 'and 1' plays are from phantom foul calls that don't even happen

    Why does everyone want to punish the players? It's the refs that should be punished. The players flop because it works. If they didn't get the calls, then they wouldn't do it so much. Start fining the refs for falling for all the flops!

    The refs are already at a disadvantage due to the sheer speed of the game. Players trying to skew what a ref sees in real time should be seen as a detriment to the sport. Which is why the talk of a third party(at least a ref not on teh floor) with the benefit of all kinds of replay going back and assessing fines for obvious plays was a welcome sign (at least for opponents of the Jazz, Spurs, and Mavs).

    Great post, of course I agree.

    If you are a player and you do something against the rules but it works than you just have to do that again. It means the player is smart. For opponents of course he is a bi*ch, but he just takes adventage of the game.

    It is up to refs. It is easy to recognise flops
