    Through 7 games this season.
    19 receptions, 30 targets, 279 yards, 2 TD

    Through 7 games last season.
    23 receptions, 32 targets, 287 yards, 1 TD

    Through 7 games in 2010.
    22 receptions, 28 targets, 266 yards, 3 TD

    Pretty similar numbers.

He's been a better receiver than I expected this season. Walter still isn't what he was 4 years ago. With Jean out and Posey not being ready, the Texans don't really have any other option. Martin has not been catching passes.

I wonder if Kubiak changed up the passing game?

The runnningbacks are much less involved this year. Maybe that's part of the effect. Also, Andre seems t be running shorter routes.

KW hasn't really changed much since the day he got here, he's making all the same catches and blocks he has always done. But the amount of looks each guy gets in this offense ebbs and flows. The offense has rotated who is featured consistently since Kubiak got here, and that's one of the great strengths of his offenses. KW had a down year (injuries in addition to a lesser role in the offense with the emergence of the double tights and Arian) and everybody was ready to bury him, now that attention is focused elsewhere, he's getting looks. Sunrise, sunset.

He's the same mediocre receiver he always has been.

The difference is the team is 6-1.

I've always liked Kevin Walter. He always does his job, no complaints. Even when he's playing hurt sometimes, he'll still get you a big reception. Glad to see him out there fully healthy. Him and OD are very underrated in this league.

Walter was hurt? Of all the nagging injuries the Texans have had the past year, I don't recall hearing about Walter being one of them.

Kevin Walters looked really good last game. I considered picking up Kevin Walters in my fantasy league for a second. What a fine name: Kevin Walters. It feels great to correctly use it three times in the same post.

Minus the fact that he has more catches and more touchdowns than he did at this point last season, right?? Aren't you a Titans fan anyways?

See my post at the top of the page. Fewer catches, fewer yards, 1 more TD. All in all, pretty similar numbers but actually a little less that what he was doing at this point last year.

The problem people have with Kevin Walter is they don't understand what a number 2 receiver normally is.

Fans are expecting a guy that can step into AJ's shoes and come close to his production should something occur as it has these last few years. Coaches like him as a number 2 because he does dirty work and is versatile as a receiver even if he isn't capable of doing everything a legit #1 can do.

Kevin Walter hasn't changed, he is just getting more good will because the team's offense is operating at full capacity which opens things up for him and help seal wins thanks to the working defense and run game.

That's not really it at all. Walter was straight up BAD last season. He was NEVER able to create separation and dropped some big passes. Idk what the problem was but he looked like he was on the verge of being done. This season, for whatever reason, he is back to playing like he did a few years ago

Walter has had 5 drops over the last 3 seasons, so I wouldnt really say he was bad last year or that he dropped some big passes.

He's always been reliable when the ball has been thrown to him and when he's been relied upon to block. As far as the separation is concerned...TJ Yates never checked down enough to see Walter as an option.

IMO, he's been the same player ever since he's joined the Texans.

healthy + AJ is healthy so he's able to be a #2. pretty simple, but people wanted him to be a #1 last year (while nicked up, not that that would have changed his ability to be a #1...he can't do it)

Having Andre on the field this year certainly helps
