well the majority of them say it's a wake up call for the lakers, and it's time for them to dominate next games.

A lady friend of mine put $50 on the table betting the Lakers would win last night.

Should have taken the bet. :(

The lakers board has a thread complaining about battiers "faceguarding" where he sticks his hand about 1 inch from Kaobes face on his jumpers. Quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever read. They are saying that its illegal and Battier should be called for a foul every time he does it.

that is hilarious, I also heard about that too. they are saying that he should start playing like a man and try to block the shot instead of putting his hand in their faces. that is hilarious :D

I've not read the forums, but I can tell you one thing they are not saying today. "I'm sure glad we aren't playing the Blazers!"

Probably blaming the refs like people on this board do after a loss.

    the lakers shot bad.

i'll give them that, and it is huge that they shot bad.

i'd like to say it was more of our defense, but i think it was more of there shots not falling...even though i have considered the slew of bad shots the rockets forced the lakers to make.

Well, face guarding is illegal and results in a technical foul. The idea is to protect players eyes from inadvertent hits. HOWEVER, if any of those Faker fans even read the rule book, they would see it doesn't apply to a defender in Battier's position:

    NBA rulebook:
    Another rulebook I found:
So, sticking a hand in front of somebody from behind while they're shooting, intentionally sticking a hand inches in from someone's face while they don't have the ball or are bringing it up the court. Those would be face guarding.

I work in an LA office and the comments have all been positive about the rockets. All the discussion points were:

    1) Yao is incredibly tough and talented.
    2) Fisher can't play defense anymore.
    3) Battier's a very good defender.
    4) Gasol has to hit his midrange shots and use his face up game against Yao.
    5) Kobe can't just settle for jumpers, has to draw some fouls.
    6) Bynum is still awesome.

I may disagree with the last point, but at least they're all giving the rockets credit for being a tough team.

    Well, you bet it.
Most of them are not scared at all~~~
Some of them talking about 2001 Finals
Some of them are blaming refs, or Bynum and Odom,
Some of them are trying to raise the power of JORDAN!!!!~~ Farmar on AB

Some of us are considering Game 2 is mission impossible
due to everything from defense to finance

We fans can do anything, but hopefully the Rockets keep focused and keep fighting
    Go rockets!, Go Yao!

this is probably the most hilarious thing i have ever heard. i'd love to see battier do a jean claude van damm kick half an inch from kobe's crotch while he's in midair for a jumpshot. that would be amazing and amazingly funny.

They should be talking about how amazing it was that Kobe did not get called for a technical for jumping on, elbowing, and then kneeing Battier. But on the plus side, Battier's reaction proved that he may be the classiest player in the league.
