I was in Prague for two days over Christmas and it was amazing. One of my favorite cities in Europe. The clock tower and the castle were both great. We did a free walking tour of the city and from what I remember, the Jewish Quarter has a very cool memorial for Holocaust victims. It's definitely worth an hour's visit if you're going to be right in the area. The Jewish Quarter is quite close to both the Old Town and the castle.
I went to Prague 2 years ago and was pretty disappointed. I guess I expected it to be more of what it was in the 90s. Now is it an overrun tourist destination, probably the most touristy city I have ever been to in Europe. It was a nice place, but I felt it was overrated.
I have never been to Europe and definitely would like to go soon. How is Europe is you only know English. Is that good enough to get by?
It's fine for the most part. In France you will probably find people who refuse to speak English, but that is just because they are douchebags. However, i have found a lot more people in China spoke English than most of Europe or at least they were more willing.
If some Mexican tourist came up to you in Houston and started talking to you in Spanish, would you reply in your broke ass Spanish, or in English?
Exactly. When people don't speak "our" language here, they need to assimilate but when we go to a foreign country, they are supposed to kiss our asses or they are douchebags. We never have had a problem with French people but we've seen many stupid Americans while we are abroad.
I used to work at a shoe store in the Galleria a few years ago. (Rich) Mexican tourists make the Galleria as successful as it is.
