Just do what I did, get a T1 line, I also have a T3 line where I work where its simply dedicated to one server. T1 and T3 line speeds cannot be beat by any of these little pansy companies.

T1 download speeds aren't that fast and why would I want to pay for T1 or T3 for surfing the Internet?

Am I missing something here...Comcast's basic service is helluva lot better than Time Warner's most expensive. 250GB @ $43 vs. 100GB @ $75?

I have windstream and I absolutely love it. I already get my home phone service thru them and when I signed up with them they gave me a pretty great offer. $24 a month for 6MB connection. (I don't think you can get it that cheap anymore) But it works great for me considering I had time warner first (which worked great for me) then they switched over to Comcast and my internet download speeds went from 800Kbps to 80kpbs MAX. Comcast people were total asses in trying to help me fix my speeds and I had a 8MB plan with them or something. So i totally ditched them got windstream for a fraction of the price and started downloading at 700Kpbs while playing xbox live and having another 9 laptops running on my internet at the same time. I guess I am just one of the lucky ones because after reading the link you provided, it seems that a lot of people are despising the windstream service.

Well.. they aren't capped. They're pretty fast, but lol I was just joking. My t1 line is used for a server for the job I work for. I don't pay for it, but they needed a location to put the server at and needed a place with t1 capability. So they bought a t1 line and I basically just use it... I used to have u-verse and I have a friend in Dallas that has FIOS (which is the fastest thing you can get in residential service in Texas) and T1 is similar to both in speeds IMO.

They are supposed to disconnect the T1 line soon and take the server to a different location in Houston where its cheaper. My workplace has Comcast and it's pretty good, so I might just get that for my house. I've been waiting for Fiber Optics for so long... but FIOS hasn't had any movements towards Houston yet.

DS1's are only 1.5/1.5...You're subjective speed comparison leaves alot to be deisred...

I also forgot to mention at my college house/apartment I have suddenlink and they are BY FAR the best ISP out there...there cost is very reasonable their internet speeds are ALWAYS high and their customer service has to be one of the best customer services for any company in the country. I consistently download at 1,014Kpbs no matter what time of the day it is and I only pay $35 a month. I would go crazy if they put a cap on my bandwidth b/c I end up downloading anywhere from 40 to 100 GB a week easy. I mean when you download that fast its just fun to download crap for the hell of it.

Yeah, that's the highest tier here, but I'm wondering how guaranteed that is. We'll see in about 2 or 3 weeks, I suppose. My current DSL service is a 6 mbit service and I get about 5-5.5 mbit.

You live in Dallas don't you?

FIOS is available there.. It's basically the best and fastest service you can get for residential service.

FIOS is ranked higher by customers than U-Verse is, not to mention it has faster speeds/plans.

If the maximum overage tops out at $75.00, get the low $30.00 plan. Then cuz its the maximum amount, all together its $105 not $150....Time Warner's really thinking this out clearly arent they. They probably have some loophole coverup there, but it just adds to the suspicion of it looking like its making up increased charges as they go.

Thought the same thing, even the MLB.TV example. Though maybe it forces people to get the tv package. Which possibly both Time Warner and MLB can benefit from. Its still saying use of normal, legal, widely promoted web features just has its dire effects on net infrastructure. Blu Ray fans must REALLY be up in arms. Or doing the devil's work according to ISPs.

Are content developers creating things too advanced or too "ahead" for the internet? Have they gotten to ahead of themselves and over-estimated the amount of content we're able push through the internet from the start? Are internet providers simply lagging behind? Should both development of content and internet expansion go hand in hand - each kinda staying within the limits of each other? Or is this EVEN a big problem at all like they're making it out to be?

Yes thats too many questions about what appears to be just a money grab. But if they claim its a problem, then we should BELIEVE when they say is a problem, right? There's too much netting going on. So then is it user overuse, over development, or provider limitations, period.

But then you cant just make something 30 times bigger size and quality than Blu Ray if there's no bandwidth to support it. Can create for everyone a NASA spaceship when there isnt even a launching pad in your state. Understand the need to limit bandwidth hogging but at LEAST have a reasonalbe limit, geez. (Yes I have Time Warner with no other high speed providers in my area)

Hmm.. I was under the impression that it was city-wide in Dallas. Ah, yes it is more expensive, but they have a deal for that faster deal for 20 MB for $30/mo for 12 months somewhere on the internet.

Verizon doesn't serve all of DFW and its burbs. There are large parts of the area that are AT&T-serviced. The one that makes me drool with FIOS is the 50 mbit service they have. Pricey, but damn... now I know how happy the Japanese and Koreans must be. :D

I recently said **** it to TMC and switch to satilite and DSL. Im paying a lil more totaly but receiving more quanity channel wise and quality net coverage so its worth it. I also can use wireless on my laptop so this works better for me.

The response by some of the members on this board is hilarious. You geeks that are downloading your p*rn and video games don't have a God-given right to hog bandwidth from the rest of the system. You should pay more if you use more....that seems quite fair. And to call this a "cash grab" is just ignorant of business practices. Time Warner operates to make a profit, not to serve the public good by providing cheap bandwidth for all and to feed your WoW fetish. You use more, you pay more, that's pretty simple and fair. The reason a lot of you are upset about this, obviously, is that your free ride of downloading as much as you want is about to come to an end.
