<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/443Vy3I0gJs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> So this commercial was apparently super controversial. As a Canadian, I am legitimately confused at the outrage. Can some fellow conservatives explain the outrage? I honestly see nothing wrong with it, I mean I do see America as a pretty diverse country built on accepting immigrants from all around the world. Maybe I'm just ignorant of American culture living in Canada.
Honestly I haven't seen much outrage ... which I am sure will be corrected shortly ... I have only seen news addressing the "outrage."
It's super-ridiculous considering the author of the poem was basically a socialist lesbian. Well Twitter outrage is news these days, but I had quite a few of my conservative friends who had their panties in a bunch on Facebook Sunday night.
well the videos has a lot of dislikes and apparently #speakamerican was trending on twitter over this commercial. like what???
I don't get on twitter so I can't speak for any tweets. People love being outraged about things though. I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with the commercial though.
I'm a naturalized citizen who lean conservative (at least fiscally) and it's unfair to say "conservatives" are outraged. It's the idiots who are outraged. Just idiots. Do you really think these idiots have any real opinion on politics?
I'd say it's disrespectful to the author to prescribe conditions to how her work should be recited that she did not do herself. What does it matter if it was sung in a different language?
Yeah, the only 'outrage' I've seen has come from.......you guessed it......Facebook. And the people who are so outraged about it are the people who go through life waiting for the next thing to be outraged about on Facebook. You know the type...you all have a few of them as FB friends.
I think the terms Conservative and Liberal have taken on lives of their own. Most folx are not 100% either Rocket River
Unfortunately I do know the type. I mentioned this earlier to someone else on FB about another controversy that social media has done a lot to expose hate and ignorance.
Honestly I haven't seen anyone "outraged" over the commercial either. But I have seen a lot of people "outraged" about the "outrage".
The only reason I see to be outraged by that commercial is the utter insipidness of it. It's like all those elementary school productions they made you do as a kid to show off to the parents how cosmopolitan your school is. At least their singers were better than 6-year-olds, but otherwise it's the same. This year, my kids' school did Frosty the Snowman in English, French, Spanish, and Mandarin.
