I wonder if the Astros were stealing signs at home this year...didn't seem to work much. Seriously, I hate how the story is framed. The article states that basically a lot of teams do it but then frames it around the 2017 WS as if thats the reason the Astros won. Also, was it actually illegal in 2017? I don't believe it was. Funny how this story is breaking from an A's pitcher and a lifelong Yankee fan. I'm starting to understand how Patriot fans feel.
Wow. Not just Harvey. This Astros Era is dampening in achievement. I'll accept more cheating if we win more titles though.
Honestly I shouldn't say it but I don't care. The Astros stole signs through the use of a camera BEFORE Crane every even owned the team. The Astros even got fined for having one of the Crawford Box scoreboard inlets open during a home game where it was being done. The league does not allow those inlets to be open unless a score is being changed (based on a ticker that was used at the time). Also, listening to other players in the bullpen in MMP (where I was), cheating was a very common thing. They would openly discuss it on the wooden benches. The only ones that were paranoid were the old timers. I don't doubt for a minute the Astros cheated...... the Cardinals used to put substances on the ball when they began their run 20 years ago. Those rag arm pitchers didn't suddenly become good on their own. Everyone knew it, and a pitcher named Jeff Suppan was caught by the Astros and the league did nothing. All these smug writers that are angry that the Astros do not cater to the media can have their say........ but from my experience (granted it was years ago) they do not have any idea what happens in the locker rooms and dugouts. Also, I have to laugh at Mike Fiers for being so righteous and coming forward. We are to believe that his release had nothing to do with it. I also find it funny that the guy coming forward was a guy teams believed was cheating while an Astros pitcher. For now on teams and players in his own dugout are not going to trust him or want to be around him.
Astros are becoming the Patriots of MLB in the publics eye. I for one welcome our new hated/feared status. Now we need some more titles during this era.
Yeah, we were sooooo much better on the road really up until this season when we finally crushed at home (until the WS that is).
Maybe other teams got so good and sending false signals in the 2019 playoffs that it screwed up our hitters with runners in scoring postion.
If true, I lost respect for the Astros and other Astros fans should as well. The WS ring is tainted in my eyes now. I don't like the Patriots cheating with Spygate either, so I'm being consistent.
I'm good. I like winning at all costs and hope the Astros find more advanced ways to beat the system next year.
