I like laughing at Rich Lord, partly because deep down inside he knows he's inept and he knows that others around him think he's inept.

With John Lopez, it's different. That windbag actually thinks he's good and carries himself like his opinion matters more then others. I bet Vandermeer wants to commit seppuku every morning.

Please 610, pair these 2 winners up because I just actually want to hear if they can actually get on each others nerves like they do on their other co-hosts...even though I probably would only listen for one time because that will probably be all I can handle.

Getting smacked in the face with an aluminum bat is at least better than having your achilles' tendon sliced with a butcher knife.

Lopez is light years ahead of Andre Ware. 610 in the mornings is listenable now. He's a better partner for Vandermeere.

i preferred vandameer when he was solo mid mornings (before he was with r. lord in the afternoons). although i wasn't a fan, vandy & andre i could listen to more than j. lopez.

HATE r. lord and j. lopez. so that's a good idea, pair them together in one timeslot i can more conveniently avoid. but i think we can all agree these two are the worst.

For some reason I can actually listen to Van and Lopez in the morning. I hated Lopez on 790 with Ted because they both liked to stir up way to much crap, and didn't like Van and Dre because they were way too boring together. But Van and Lopez have a nice contrast in styles which seems to work for me.

Or maybe it's because 1560 seems to be 100% college football in the mornings now and I'll do anything to listen to more Texans talk.

Um, the only reason it was not Cougar Matt and Rich Lord doing Rome was because Rich was in San Antonio taking his daughter to dinner for her 21st birthday.

When it was originally scheduled, both of them were doing the show.

And I find it funny that people think these 2 hate each other off air, it is probably the exact opposite. The reason people do listen and do post angry Threads on CF.net about them is because their able to take sides on different issues for the sake of a good on-air arguement.

That was the problem with Marc and Andre as well as Marc and John now, they talk about issues that they both agree on, which makes a 15 minute segment get very stagnant quickly.

I find it hilarious that people really believe that because Rich Lord decided to take his daughter and her friends out to dinner for her 21st birthday instead of doing Rome that this somehow makes him immune to regret or envy that Matt did the show and did such a good job. The guy had already made a promise to his daughter that he would take her out on her 21st birthday before the Rome show guest appearance was scheduled. He said that on air. So either he does the Rome show and risks pissing off his daughter and/or wife, or he keeps his promise and misses out on the Rome show. That's something I could easily see him regretting after the fact. I'm not saying he does, he may in fact not really care, but there is still plenty of opportunity for some underlying envy that MattJ worked the gig solo.

I moved from Houston in 1997. Why is it that in the last decade, the city of Houston hasn't produced (or brought in) one decent radio guy? I mean, Wexler and Jackson, Rich Lord, Charlie Pallilo, weren't all those guys were on the radio when I lived there? Back when there was 1 sports radio station. You'd think with all the additional sports talk there would be more good talent on the air.

1560 is pretty much college football 24/7. I can't remember the last time I tuned in and there was someone actually talking about one of the major professional sports leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA). And is it just me, or are their commercial breaks like twice as long as the other stations?

I have said this before, and it's a good opportunity to say it again:

Rich Lord is the biggest tool on sports radio in Houston. Don't get me wrong - I don't think he's a bad PERSON, it's just that he is consistently wrong on almost everything he says or thinks (at least as it pertains to what he says or thinks on the air re: sports). So mixed in with all this wrongness, you add the fact that the guy is endlessly amused by himself, and thinks he is always the smartest guy in the room. At least he comes across that way. There is nothing less amusing than a genuinely un-funny person who thinks he is genuinely hilsrious. Ugh. The only good thing about Rich Lord is that he is not Pallillo. THAT guy is spawned directly from the mouth of hell, and the less said about him the better.

Pallillo is an arrogant b*stard thats for sure. But the guy knows more about sports than any Local radio personality. His shows is one of the few where I actually feel like its worth my time to listen to his analysis and perspectives and he is usually spot on with his predictions.

I would feel it's worth my time, if he'd act like it's worth his. He's just too negative for me. When he left 610 I was relieved, though I do think the collective IQ for 610 went down that day. Listening to Rich bothered me a lot more when he was next to Charley... don't know if that speaks highly or insults MattJ.. just how I feel.

As for the others, Rich I don't mind, but that doesn't mean that I consider the show a gold mine of info when he's in the box. Matt J has grown on me over the years. I couldn't stand him when he was paired with Fizzle way back when, but he seems to have matured since then, and his sports knowledge has improved greatly. Plus he's somewhat of a Rockets homer, so he's gonna get props here more than not, I think. I don't get all the Rich Hate, but I don't get a lot of things that people seem to get so worked up about.

As for the original comment that was made, I think it's a bit out of line, and even offensive, for him to be calling callers dbags for voicing their opinions. It was a valid point of discussion, and I don't see why dbag was necessary other than just trying to be "hip," which is a sad statement in and of itself. I will say that I didn't hear how the point was presented, so maybe the dbagginess was found in that.

Except when he said the Rockets would NEVER win a championship with Kenny Smith and Vernon Maxwell at guards.

No, I still haven't forgiven him for that.

As much as I enjoy Matt J I will not listen to 610 in the afternoons until they get rid of Rich Lord. If there ratings sink that is the only way they will learn. If you don't like him just don't listen and eventually they will get rid of him.

Fire everyone except Adam Wexler, making him work a ton of overtime. That guy is 100% awesome. Second place would be Matt Jackson, with 80% awesome.

saying that Rice shouldn't have sports because the athletes can't keep up with the classes is a valid discussion? Uhhh...no, it's not.
