So for a backup undersized PF, and a malcontent lazy has been, we got a young up and coming PF, a borderline efficient wing player, and a couple of draft picks.

    Good job Morey !

Now you're just being intellectually dishonest and making yourself look even worse. Somehow Landry is a "backup undersized PF" and Hill is a "young up and coming PF" even though Landry is BY FAR the better of those two players? Call me when Hill becomes an elite Top 10 fourth quarter scoring threat than can carry a team. And where are the plural "picks"? We got one pick and a swap that won't be used, meaning it may as well not exist. It's just like stock options to buy at 10x market price. Basically worthless. Morey traded the most valuable contract in the NBA for some magic beans and then he lost the beans.

At it again, Debbie Downer? It just would be the same here without your avid, off the charts, rediculous pessimism. I'm so grateful that you stuck around! :p

    What $13-14 million?

Are you talking about Jared Jeffries' salary for last season and this upcoming season? Do you remember that the Rockets would have had to pay Tracy McGrady's salary if they didn't trade him (I guess they could have kept on freezing him and have insurance cover a part of the cost... that wasn't what NY did, though)? Do you remember that a part of the consequences of the packaged deal was that the Rockets actually lowered their salary for the 2009-2010 season and got under the tax threshhod?

As for the upcoming pick(s), we'll see how things work out for NY, with or without Lebron James.

Otherwise, you are just another Jerome Solomon wanna be.

In the end, it was a gamble. Like everything else. Every FA signing, every draft pick. Some work, some don't. Prematurely ejaculating your opinion is an entirely useless activity unless you have a demonstratably better idea as to how to run things.

I think he is saying that if the a$$ falls out of these (NY) picks, you could argue that Mac's expiring was under utelised for what will ultimately be J.Hill and a very late 1st in what projects to be a shallow draft.

I realise that pieces from the Landry deal were required to consumate the Mac deal but that doesn't detract from his argument. It's drawing a long bow to say 'Mac= Martin, hill picks etc. Great trade! Your crazy!'

There was always a risk attached to that trade because of the uncertain value of NY's picks. A risk worth taking. If LeBron goes to NY (or anywhere else) from the outside looking in you'd have to assume that it was close. A risk worth taking.

I am still worried about them getting Felton.

Felton in a Dantoni offense I think could do just enough getting his teams involved and running a PnR with Amare to get them to the playoffs.

If they end up without a PG upgrade after this offseason, then count me in on a update to date Knicks and the lottery update thread all year, otherwise we need to use that right to switch picks in a trade soon.

You do realize Jared Jeffires value just shot up by you mention how huge his salary is. You know why? Its an expiring contract that we now have coming off the books next year and its and expiring contract for a deadline trade now too. Knicks Jeffires just become real valuable this year even if he was good player or not. On top of that we got Martin the whole year, knocks picks if Lebron doesnt join then? That a huge if right now. If he doent join them is a lottery pick or around the middle part of the round. Then next year? Also a lottery pick. With our own pick to go with it to use in a trade to move up with two picks in one year. Then there is Hill. :)

How does a team move up in the draft generally? They have two picks in that same draft usually. With the picks the Knicks gave us? For one year we could do just that no matter how low they are because we all know the Knicks wont make them lower than the 16th through 20th picks with that lineup.

Felton wants 8-10 million per year, that would eat a lot of NY's cap space if they don't get Lebron.

Morey needs to be on the phone trying to sell the picks before lebron announces.

My word mate. That far under the cap, they were never going to strike out completly. They were never going to offer us better than the #9 pick next year. Is Amare an upgrade over D.Lee? I'm not so sure but Dantoni seems to think so. That has to count for something. An effective fa signing (like a Ray Felton) + the natural progression you would expect from Galla, Chandler, Douglas, Walker and co and you wonder how critical those
picks were Morey in Febuary. They were never going to be T10 picks.

Was the inclusion of those picks and the nature of their protection as fundamental to the Mac-Hill deal as we've all assumed or was Hill the gem with the draft considerations merely the cream on top that come from the shark smelling blood in the water?

What is worse... Lebron to Miami where championships he will amass or New York where we will lose a good draft pick

I pick Miami... I'd rather have a good draft pick.

Besides three stars does not always make a champion... And who know are pick could be the next Lebron. New York will have to pull off some major deals to be better than last year. At this point they may want to call back T-Mac. Did they renounce him yet. Maybe they could do a sign and trade for the minimum. It's hard to believe no one wants him. He begged the Lakers for the MLE and they spent it on Steve Blake. Who would have ever thought Steve Blake would be more valuable than McLady. Okay I digress... Our future is in the hands of Lebron.
