That is why I hate holding options into earnings. They can lose all their value.

How high do you think our pick will be next year in terms of the swap?

If Lebron goes to New York as rumored now, I think our pick will probably be the better one.

lol, the swap is worthless now, great job Morey. Someone should dig up that clip after the K-brick trade where he was acting all smug and saying that typically the big free agents move through sign and trade. Looks like his statistical analysis needed a bit more detail.

Not necessarly, with Amare and James they will be A LOT better but they will have the same issues Wade/Bosh face in Miami and worse. If James signs, straight up, then they have ZERO capspace left so they will need to fill out the squad with scrubs. Saying that, they will probably still be a playoff team just not a contender while we should be a good team in the West with a mid to high 20's pick as it stands now, which could change. The 2012 pick will be useless because next offseason they get another max slot and should do damage with that one.

The extra pick is gravy. Kevin Martin and Jordan Hill would have been a fantastic deal even without the pick.

He was not wrong in his thinking that most top free agents will try to maximize their earnings which would be through Sign and Trade. We still got an extra pick in 2012, Jordan Hill, Jefferies expiring, and Kevin Martin and only gave up Landry (good player but no Kevin Martin) and T-Mac (who is done in NBA). Tell me again why that was a bad trade???? Because one of the picks "might be" of less value. A first round pick is a first round pick. Give Morey some credit. We werent even in the discussion for the Bosh sweepstakes and Morey made us a relevant player and possibly a second option if Bosh wasnt able to team with Wade or Lebron.

It was a good trade, any way you want to slice. It would have ended up being a fantastic trade if things turn out differently the past couple weeks, but as is it was still a solid move. The Rockets put themselves in position to offer both Bosh and Toronto a good deal, but in the end Bosh wanted to team up with Dwyane Wade.

    Uh . . . it was a THREE-TEAM TRADE.

Martin made $10M last year. Landry made $3M. You do the math.

The NY pick is just fine. Boozer to Chi. Looks like the East just got a whole lot tougher for every team in the conf. Even IF LeBron goes to NY, they won't have the TEAM to be a top 5 in the east now. Orl, Chi, Mia, Bos, Mil, Atl would all be better teams than NY with those two. Amare doesn't play D or rebound well enough. He will frustrate Knick fans.

Even if its not a lottery pick, it will still be a mid 1st round pick. That is a good pick in any draft.
