Sign Taylor to a 3 year or 4 year deal. Sign Wafer. (He has issues, but he is young) Whatever left over, get a cheap big man.
Sign Millsap, Bass, or Wafer...I don't won't to sign any one year rental centers...I would rather sign someone who we can add to our team for the future and tank this year.
No,but I wouldn't be surprised if he asks for the whole MLE. If he can come cheap, then I'm for it. I think the Rockets will target him but in the end he might go for more money if someone is willing to offer it, because I don't see him getting the MLE from Morey.
I don't see any decent centers out there anymore. I don't want to sign a warm body past this season just to put someone out there on the floor. I'd rather save the money and go to battle undermanned. We're not going anywhere this year anyway. Might as well keep our finances low and try to pounce next year.
i think we should go fo a big man first, the 2 guard position can be temporarily filled by Taylor and eventually either tmac will be back or if he's traded, i can see morey making sure he's getting a solid two guard back, at least.
wow, those are threee very different players who will be asking for 3 different amounts....it's not cool to sign people up just for the hell of it..we don't need a PF and von is replaceable.
Here's something we can't do: Sign a back-up center to a >1 year deal for the MLE. That'd mean another $6 million on the books next off-season that isn't an exception. Assuming Yao does not opt out, we won't have as much money as we'd hope to sign a big-name free agent in 2010. Don't go off spending that MLE. I wouldn't be surprised if Morey didn't spend it at all and just held onto it or used it to sign the rookies. We can't sign people long-term if we have any plans on staying in the 2010 sweepstakes.
Why are we forgetting this guy? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HbQ3xwXgFzw&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HbQ3xwXgFzw&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
??? The DPE didn't magically generate more money for the Rockets, it just created an opportunity to spend more to make up for losing Yao.
