I will be very happy already if we can have a solid PF backup

I'm crying??? Ok bruh it's clear you don't have **** else to do but post on clutchfans thus you feel this is your own personal site and only YOU can determine what we talk about. I, like many other fans felt the momentum we had after singing CP3 would lead to a more fruitful free agency period. If you would get off Morey's nuts for a minute you would probably see we gave up quite a bit FOR CP3 and other teams in our Conference were able to acquire talent without losing much. Crying...you'd probably be the one crying if Clutch decided to shut this site down cuz you'd have to find something to do with your life.

    1) First 35 games we had a 74 winning pctg. Last 47 we were 62%. Had we played the entire season like those last 47 games our record would have been 51-31. We were trending down. Our shooting was getting worse, Gordon was getting worse, etc. Let's be honest.

    2) Ok fair enough. I think adding Taj Gibson and McDermott made the Thunder better down the stretch.

    3) We will see on the Wolves. I'm pretty bullish on them. I think their coaching may be their biggest problem.

    4) Right which is what I said. We should have concern about the regular season as well though. Falling to a 4 seed for example means you are playing Golden State in round 2 if you get there. Can't take a step back.

This is a flawed way of looking at it. You must look at it versus the alternative. The alternative was keeping those guys and not getting another star. At best we'd have a repeat of last year. If you can roll the dice with a star, you roll the dice.

The most important thing to remember is playing with CP3 increases the desirability of Houston for forwards. We are set up to get a third star now, and until we do (or don't) we can't pass final judgment.

Am I missing something on the Nuggets? They lost Gallo and added Milsap. Maybe they'll improve by 5-6 games but I'm definitely not looking at a top 4 seed unless some of their young guys make massive improvements.

The Wolves & OKC got considerably better - they will be exciting/fun teams to watch (particularly the Wolves), but I think only the Rockets are in a great position to make another massive upgrade via Melo so I'm not too concerned at the moment. We went from Bev/Dekker/Harrell to CP3/PJ Tucker. I repeate: Bev/Dekker/Harrell to CP3/PJ Tucker......

Yup not hyped on denver being a lock for the playoffs. I think they'll be battling to get in as an 8th seed if anything. Denver's guard play is not nearly good enough to battle with the better teams of the west. maybe 40-45 wins is what i see

Rockets are the ONLY team other than GS who has two superstars, and the NBA is a superstar league. You can upgrade as much as you want, that still won't be worth as much as adding a superstar.

Minnesota will be better this year, but they were already supposed to be good last year with Thibs and still only won 30. Their luck will improve this year with close games, and Butler will help, but that won't add 20-30 wins which is what they need to catch the Rockets.

Denver is underrated, I like their team a lot. Millsap was the guy I wanted on the Rockets, he is going to help tremendously, as much as Butler for Minnesota. Jokic is a budding superstar at 22 years old, and I use that term sparingly. Besides the established superstars, the two on the cusp are Giannis and Jokic, they are ahead of Towns and AD. I like Denver's team a lot, they will push 50-55 wins, but that is still a little below the Rockets, and more importantly in a 7 game series they are no match against 2 superstars guards when guards dominate nowadays. If they added George Hill they would've been dangerous, but alas. MEM, POR, NOR are all middling and fighting for the 7/8th seed. Utah and Clips are done.

SAS might have chemistry issues with Aldridge wanting out. OKC will be better, but who knows they might have to blow it up by the trade deadline if George doesn't commit. HOU is slightly better than both and one solid contributor away from contention,

As I said...merely a great team. 51-31 with that roster was about as good as anybody would have expected coming into the year last year, and heck...that's only 4 games off of what we finished up at. And you're right, the 2nd half of the season was plagued with various injuries/fatigue related issues. Wasn't much of a surprise.

I don't think the Rockets, after adding a Top 10 player, need to worry about a step back, barring injury. Just manage the minutes of Harden/Paul/Gordon more effectively this season, and we'll be fine.

    the Nuggets aren't that impressive

right now they still have Jameer Nelson and Mudiay as their PG's...they tried Jamal Murray at point towards the end of the season but he's not a natural PG or floor general and he'll be entering his 2nd season

Denver is looking like a 7th seed with that PG rotation that they have right now

We got Chris Paul and I'm ecstatic. I believe there will be times we miss Pat Bev's tenaciousness. There will be times we miss him getting a crucial rebound when our bigs seem to not be able to. Lou Will wasn't great by any means but he is a good weapon to have in the arsenal. We also lost two youngsters that only time will reveal how good they could turn out to be. Plus a future first and $6mil. If I was Daryl I would have pulled the trigger too but I bet he was even surprised by how little OKC had to give up to end up getting Paul George.

so basically you're problem is what another team did that has nothing to do with what the rockets organization is doing

Right now our rotation is better than last year and more versatile. The backup PF is still sort of not a good spot but depending on the lineups being used you will see either Ariza or Tucker there.

    I mean

    Paul
    Harden/Gordon
    Ariza/Tucker
    Anderson
    Capela/Nene/Onauku

    vs
    Beverley
    Harden/Gordon/Lou
    Ariza/Dekker
    Anderon
    Capela/Nene/Harrell

Instead of Bev/Lou/Gordon/Dekker(or Ariza)/Nene lineups off the bench

    we have: Paul or Harden/Gordon/Tucker/Anderon(Ariza)/Nene

If Barbosa is signed off of waivers that gives us a better lineup to rest guys above which will help. If we somehow swap Ryno for Melo I think we are more versatille

Paul/Harden/Gordon - all of these guys can play both guard position so we will always have one resting and the other two playing
Melo/Ariza/Tucker - all of these guys can play both SF and PF so the same applies as above

The Rockets are in a better position now than last season. I mean it would be amazing if we are able to swap Ryno for Melo, but if not I think we can go to war with this lineup. I think the Rockets really suffered late in the season with Ryno going into a slump it was no surprise the games where he played fairly well the Rockets won in a rout. His ability to shoot a high % is critical for the teams success. Also I think if Onauku develops this offseason to play that Harrell role it will be even better. Onauku is bigger and wont be pushed around as easily on defense. We will have two legit 7 footers in Capela and Nene and another guy who is like 6'10 or 6'11 with some bulk already. I am higher on him with his more nba-ready body vs Qi though Qi probably is the more talented player with a higher ceiling.

    Lol OK.

Talk about what you want but don't get offended when literally everyone, not just me, is bashing you for a shiity comment/opinion.

What more fruit did you want us to get when we had absolutely no cap space? We actually got cp3 to commit less so we could send out less salary and preserve more of our core team.

And so what, having cp3 was gonna convince Indy to trade George to us? Having cp3 is gonna convince Chicago to trade Butler to us?

No, they make their own decisions as a franchise.

Let's look at what cp3 HAS done.

He got Tucker to take less in order to play for us.

He put us on the extreme short list for melo, with only LeBron as an alternative.

Do you not pay attention to things that go on? Or do you just expect the rockets to trade Gordon for Butler and Ryan for George?

51 win is still better than all the teams you mentions, and we added more this offseason than all those teams.

The Rockets have two top 6 players and top tier (if overpaid) role players. Not beating the Warriors but they're okay.
