I don't know where she stands on Dr Fauci-is-a-quack meter, but I'm pretty sure if some rando University of Phoenix doctor on Facebook told her that he was, she'd be putting a link to me to it so that I could listen to this drivel, too. My mom is trolling me on Facebook.
Change her profile photo to a dick pic. She will either be appalled and never return to facebook, too embarrassed to return to facebook, or kicked off of facebook. Problem solved.
Just remember she helped carry you to this point in your life and that she will likely always love you no matter what. It doesn't seem to get any easier dealing with aging parents and it's best to stay positive, because you think she's crazy now...
I’m not an expert on many things - but this is one of the three topics I feel confident about. Unfollow her feed, and just don’t bring any of the stupidity up when you’re around her. Boomers gonna boomer. Love your mother and ignore it.
Threaten to put her in a home if she doesn't cut it out. No, but honestly, I feel you. My parents are the same. My mother regurgitates whatever friends tell her without ever questioning anything, and then my father is an extreme conspiracy theorist. With my mother, it's harmless and easy to ignore. With my father, it's a different story, he gets very argumentative and angry. Last time he was over he forced me to watch a 40 minute long youtube video on some wingbat old lady saying a hoard of horseshit along the lines of - masks make COVID deadly, Fauci created aids, Fauci/Gates created COVID to force vaccines on us. Irate and in utter disbelief when I have to tell him "Sorry pops, that sounds like a bunch of horse ****".
My mom does the same. Loves to forward me videos about all things Trump, or conspiracies. Sometimes I'll engage in discussion, sometimes I won't. Most of the time if we get into discussions, she ends up saying, "I hate arguing with you, you're always using common sense."
Visit the folks at home. Block Facebook via router. Take her phone while she's not looking and block Facebook with parental controls.
