Drummond and Lillard would give this team scoring and post defense that it needs. If Drummond could at least contribute defensive at some point in the season, This could turn out to be a very good draft for us.
They should really try to swing for more picks in the late 1st as well. Go ahead and do that quick rebuilding thing now.

I know different sports and all, but any of you Houston fans remember how it felt when Randy Johnson and Carlos Beltran became one year rentals after their year was up. Sure they took us to the playoffs and had great seasons, but once that season was up, sure did suck watching them walk.

If we trade them for Dwight
Upside: Dwight re-signs, we get the best C in the league and a top 5 player for years to come.
    - Very unlikely
Downside: Dwight doesn't want to re-sign, bolts to Brooklyn or wherever when the time comes.
    - Very likely

If we get the #5 and #8 picks, and keep them
    - From '03-'10, the #5 pick has produced D.Wade, K.Love, D.Cousins, R.Rubio, D.Harris, R.Felton, J.Green and Sh.Williams.
    - From '03-'10, the #8 pick has produced R.Gay, T.Ford, C.Frye, J.Hill, B.Wright, A.Aminu, J.Alexander and R.Araujo.

It may be a crapshoot (especially the #8), but there are some franchise players there, and multiple guys who are/were great "pieces" on their teams. There are a few busts as well, but that's the draft for you.

The bottom line is that there's one sure thing if we keep the picks - we get to keep and develop our 2 selections. And I'll take that certainty with the natural risk of the draft over the certainty of having D12 for one year with all signs pointing to him leaving afterwards.

Dwight took his team to the finals. Before the season he was a top two player in the NBA. Most likely no one in this draft will be as good as dwight.

I'd try and move Drummond (if we get him) with Martin, Morris, and Dallas pick to Orlando who would then send Dwight to LA who would then send Bynum to us.

I'd then do another 3-way in which Pau goes to Minny, Scola, Bud, Johnson, and Barea go to LA, and we get a future 1st rd minny pick, Miller and Websters' unguaranteed contracts (essentially), and Utah pick.

    Dragic
    Lee
    Parsons
    Ppat/Dmo
    Bynum/Camby/Smith

Still would have a top ten selection and the Utah pick.

I say, why not? Trade them.

People always b**** about Morey playing it safe, or not clinching the blockbuster deals. Now, we have the chance and people are afraid now?

Do it. If we get Howard, we're instantly media darlings as well as a playoff team. With him in tow, Deron Williams will have to at least consider us. If Dragic takes the step towards all-star status, we may not even need him.

If Howard stays, awesome. We've got another all-star big man to succeed Yao, and now have the tools to build a contender.

If he leaves, we're going to be in full tank mode and have a good chance at getting a top pick in the next few years.

And, if the Magic don't bite on the draft picks, then we will have two young players (Drummond and Lamb, just an example) to help jump-start the rebuild.

We cannot lose. We're either contenders once again, or a team rebuilding through the lottery. All Morey must do is pull the trigger on these trades.

the only reason we shouldn't get howard, is that we won't have him for more than one year. he will not stay here. the only good thing to come out of a trade for howard. would be trading howard to LA for bynum or something before the next trade deadline. personally, i would like keep the picks. not interested in a rentel.

Give me the known player and rare athlete in DH.

    Picks will come and go.

Drummond and other player don't excite me like DH rental and a potential Franchise changer that can lore others to Houston.

If not... Then we will not have too draft are top 5 picks after DH leaves

So we actually get both DH and Next year when or if DH leaves we get re high picks cause will be suck.

People keep saying this but I doubt it.

We aren't giving up much for Dwight...

A player that plans to leave (Lowry)

And Draft picks that we'd never have.

Also we'd haev D-mo...and you know Les will keep the pressure on Morey to sign more bandaid vets to hover around .500 ball after Dwight leaves.

I say start rebuilding now, the sooner you start the better.

I don't get the conception that if he leaves we will get high pick. If he leaves, we will put together some squad to compete for the 14th pick. We won't tank...ever.

I actually like Lillard, but not enough to pass up Dwight (even for one season).

I don't like Drummond. I see the potential in him, but I've seen that same potential in many players that lack heart. Most of the time that potential doesn't materialize.

In my honest opinion, neither one of those guys would make this team any better than it's been the past couple of years. Dwight definitely would.

And yes, there's a VERY likely chance it will be a 1-year rental, but I would take one year of relevance followed by some bad years over more years of this same crap over and over again.

If Thomas Robinson or Bradley Beal are there at 5, though... all bets are off.

No. Especially if they have to include Parsons in the trade that would get Howard for one season.
