It may be swept under the rug but that no longer is your problem. You cannot hold the info and use it later. It is EXTREMELY unethical. I'm in IT and I understand how difficult that it can be but you have to disclose it to the proper people and let them manage their company as they deem fit. It relenquishes you of any responsibility.
Yeah, I agree....CYA at all costs!! Sorry that you had to be put in this position...can't believe how stupid your CIO is!!!
Wow. Is your boss, or the HR chick, going to figure out that you got/saw this e-mail? If they can figure that out, won't you be in a bit of a spot? Man, this thread has potential!
yeah I am going to go get lunch with the owner tomorrow I lost a bet to him due to the Rockets series so I will bring it up then the best I can. I am not sure what the owner will do with it but I do not want the ball in my court anymore
if its a company with one owner, your boss and the hr person right under them, then I would suspect its no big deal if the owner finds out you knew a few months down the road. tell your boss not to do it again, and that should be that.
Start sending creepy anonymous messages to the HR rep's personal email address. "I know about you..." Hilarity ensures...
Good luck with that. I agree that you should say something. I don't know if you would get in trouble if they found out some other way and that you knew this all along, but you probably don't even want to take that chance. Good thing I didn't bet with my professor about the Lakers/Rockets series
Yeah, what happens when/if your boss finds out you saw the email? That could put you in a very bad situation and things could get messy. Probably best to tell the owner now.
Go to the owner, even if they sweep it under the rug they'll need you to keep it quiet, I'm sure they'll pay for silence. Certainly your boss won't want to have you get fired just so that you can go tell his wife. You can be ethical and opportunistic.
if the owner of the business is smart he already has a heads up as to what is going on, you mentioning it to him should just keep you clear of anything that could hurt you in the future, watch your own ass, dont assume anything at the sametime, unless you saw something confirming that she and him are actually doing something it could just be a game they play through email, still unethical but not as demeaning as an affair
This info is very valuable, you should not release it until you know the full score - timing is everything. Best case scenario: You become the boss, and get to court the HR lady. Remember, you cannot pass up a lucrative oppurtunity In This Economy (tm)
