I somehow overlooked the part about "This Year" and was talking about the coming offseason .... Sure it was possible within the rules .... but that doesn't make it remotely likely. That's why I took it to mean "next year" as I think its safe to assume we all knew he wouldn't be a part of this team for the current playoff run. After the MLE was spent on KPap ? & the BAE on Smith .... there is nothing left but vet min deals and that wasn't going to be near enough to get Llull to leave Europe , hell it doesn't even cover his buyout ($3m?). Considering that , I really don't understand why there would be any talk about Llull joining the Rockets prior to the new league year.
Like I said above , I somehow took that to mean next offseason .... It's pretty much common knowledge that the Rockets have no cap space & have already used both available exceptions this year .... Watkins wasn't wrong , just talking about something totally irrelevant to this season. My question is about next season - Do they have an offer on the table to bring him over next year?! Does the recent tweet that started this thread refer to next season (No offer for next year) or the reality that getting him this season was an impossibility .... which we already knew. This offseason is going to present Morey with some tough decisions .... Smith & KJ Vs other available FA's .... throw Llull into the mix and .... I dont know what I'd do.
I wouldn't say he is trash, but he may be ready or not hang with NBA point guards on nightly basis. Morey should go for a more proven starting pg. I would love to see Jared Jack here.
Didn't Morey say we only have the MLE to offer this summer? Priority will be given to re-signing Brewer and Smith. It's 2016-2017 that the salary cap will expand and we go after big game.
The Rockets have "Early Bird Rights" on Brewer , they can exceed the cap to resign him for up to 175% of his current salary (I don't expect them to pay him that much). He'll be back if Morey wants him.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Sergio Llull (12 points, 4 assists) FINALLY breaks through and wins his first Euroleague Championship with Real Madrid.</p>— David Weiner (@BimaThug) <a href="https://twitter.com/BimaThug/status/600031663037358080" data-datetime="2015-05-17T20:14:31+00:00">May 17, 2015</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
So does this mean he's coming over? Not winning the Euroleague Championship was what was keeping him from making the leap, right?
this bum better not keep us from drafting cameron payne, jerian grant, or terry rozier morey already has egg on his face with papa
I thought Elvis said they were going to try something different next year and operate over the cap. Llull might be worth the luxury tax implications.
No im not mad. But i rather eat **** than cheer for Real. In any sport. He is not a bum but i dnt know if he has the resilliace and is humble enough to start again from a star back to a rookie. But i guess he will come now. Grant or payne yes agreed. Rozier only in second round perhaps.
Sergio Llull on NBA: 'I sleep well in any case' Spanish star Sergio Llull told RealMadridTV about the possibile trip to USA to try the NBa (Houston Rockets drafted him): "NBA is there, but I sleep well in any case. I want to win titles and I'm in the best place to do that' Llull's contract with Real Madrid will expire in 2018. Llull: “La NBA no me obsesiona. Google translate: Sergio Llull has passed Realmadrid TV and has reviewed the conquest of the ninth European Cup won last Sunday at the Palacio de los Deportes. "We are very happy because it is something that Real Madrid wanted him. In recent years we reached the final and went on with the lesson learned to lift the Ninth and the Palacio de los Deportes " says Mahon. Llull believed that "there was so much pressure. The two parties prepare well. We know we have the responsibility that comes with wearing the shirt of Real Madrid. The next challenge is to get the league title and poker, it would be historic. It will not be easy but go for it. " On his relationship with the fans he recalls that when he arrived "was a dream that came true and grew up as the Real Madrid. People do like players with character, winners and let the soul, and I think that's why they identify something with me. The crowd is a vital part for us. This year at the Palace, only one team has won for us, and with his drive and support easier. We remember them and to offer this Euroleague Palace is special and something they deserved. After lifting the Kings Cup, the second special moment is when we left the bus with everybody cheering and supporting ". Chosen in position 34 of the 2009 draft by the Nuggets , their rights are now owned by the Houston Rockets . Despite the siren from the United States, the jump across the Atlantic not obsess him. "The NBA is there but not I lose sleep. I want to win titles and I'm in the best place possible, " he concludes.
This with what Cyber recently posted, makes me believe that he will stay in Europe. In 2016 when the MLE will balloon then he may think again to come.
It sounds as if it could be just a negotiating ploy, as well. We'll know soon enough, but now - - Let's get Game III !
He is not indicating anything about not coming, he's just saying he's happy. It wouldn't be in his best interest, as far as his relationship with the fans, to say he yearns to play here. The Google translation has some errors, but nothing important.
another primadonna Euros in the mold of Fernandez, Spanoulis, etc....don't hinge our offseason with this guy
