The most underrated aspect of NBA scouting is a player's dedication to the sport. So many top picks based on talent who have no desire to be good: Bynum, Bennett, Beasley, etc.

Unfortunate. Although you have to look at the Cavs on this one too. Basically no one had him pegged as #1 and the Cavs took him anyway. Bill Simmons and the other guys doing the draft coverage on tv were literally speechless when it was announced.
I see no reason anybody would take on that contract, so pretty sure he clears waivers -- if so, I think he'd be an OK close-to-the-end-of-the-bench big for a team willing to pay him the near minimum.
seems odd considering he's been putting in work this off season...isn't he in better shape now? Portland and Philly have room to claim him...Portland might want to take on that risk, now that they are back in rebuild mode.
It was unexpected because the Cavs took Thompson over a more hyped up center, and then another PF in Bennett over another more hyped up C, and they really could've used a center. But it wasn't like Bennett was a nobody, and no one thought he's top talent. I remember several media / scout outlets having Bennett as the best talent in the draft.
Time for Toronto to grab another Canadian? He had a pretty strong FIBA summer too (for Canada), so I'm sure this signing would get a lot of support among Toronto fans right now.
Bynum wasn't a top pick. For as low as he was picked, it was actually surprising that he got as good as he did before the sharp decline. Most big men picked that low are either euro stash picks or one dimentional.
Wowwwwwww. Just wow. Side note: Minnesota better pray Wiggins ends up becoming a star, otherwise all they have to show for trading Kevin Love is the corpse of KG.
It's not so bad. Just that a lot of the best players weren't picked later. Like Dieng, Gobert, Greek Freak. Then Oladipo I think has a chance to be an all-star caliber player. Not the best draft but certainly has some good players. Gobert, 'Dipo, and Alphabets could all be big time players.
Well...compared to the 2006 draft but when I think of an epically bad draft I think of the 2000 draft and it's not even close. That is the worst draft of all time I'm sure. I see a lot of players in this draft like Noel, Canaan, MCW, Steven Adams, Olynyk, Shabazz, Plumlee who may not be stars but will probably have decent NBA careers.
I definitely agree on 2000. 2001 was pretty bad as well. Oddly enough, those are the 2 drafts I paid the most attention to, because the Rockets had a couple rough years there. Since then, I don't get overly excited about drafts or draft picks.
