That goes back to the trust issue. He trusted that she would not overdo it and stay in control.

If she's 85lbs, that makes her a spinner. She could have gotten dizzy from a hard spin and fell resulting in the cuts and bruises....

Me personally . . I would have dropped her at home.
Attempted to explain myself . .and he still wanted to go knife to knife
so be it. . . but THAT IS ME . . . I have no expectations of others to follow that
I will concede to your knowledge . . . because I have been very drunk
before but never to that point.

BTW - he was home with the kids so leaving them to pick up wifey was not a real option . . .else folx will be b*tching about leaving kids home alone.

Cab sounds best but . . .evidently no one knew where she was

If my wife comes home .. . . as damaged as he described
everyone who was with her has some SERIOUS explaining to do

From this thread (not from the OP), I get the feeling that plenty of guys here like to prey on married women when they are in a bar/club.

And then when they get married, they want to lock the wife to the kitchen so they don't go to the club to bang other men (possibly their friends, who are still single).

Why even marry her if there is so little trust?

If the story is true, how could the OP call a cab to get her? He wasn't there and he didn't find out she was too drunk to drive until the friend called when they were already driving with the guy.

Exactly, he trusted her to go into an environment in which over drinking can easily lead to someone taking advantage. I would certainly let my gf/wife go to bars with her friends, but would be upset if she drank irresponsibly, to the point where she's alone in car with a stranger. She was a bar, not a church.

This is a case of irresponsible drinking, not quite to the same extent as drinking and driving, but it would be the drunk driver's fault, right?

Wow, that whole area is pretty bad. Yeah, I get pretty upset if my gf goes out drinking with strange people and gets too drunk, so I could image. You need to have a talk with her and tell her that if she's planning on getting that drunk, you better be in the equation. If not, then men she hardly knows shouldn't be giving her a ride home. Why didn't she go into her friend's place? Most women know to not trust a stranger like that. Talk to her man, you have every right to be upset. BTW don't let her know you shared this on an Internet forum. ;) Good luck, I hope you don't have to deal with this crap again. It's not fair to make you a baby sitter when a little foresight and common sense could have prevented it.

It is true that a marriage is based on trust, but it is also based on mutual respect. In my opinion, the wife lacked the most basic form of respect by acting like an out of control drunken 15yr old.

Wife's can absolutely be replaced. To think that you are irreplaceable is a huge mistake in marriages today.

Messed up situation. I'm curious to hear what she has to say about this once she sobers up. I would also make it point to have a face to face conversation with her so-called friends. They certainly wouldn't be welcome in my home again to say the least.

Well the driver could've been intoxicated too. When everyone has alcohol in them, reason gets thrown out the window.

Glad the OP's wife is safe. Don't think whatever happened is a dealbreaker, but there are some issues to hammer out.

She has kids at home. That kinda makes it a completely different scenario.

This. She showed a lack of respect for the husband and herself. A 30-something year old mother has no business getting wasted to the point of having no control of her situation.
