Oh, you definitely don't need to leave the board over this- trust me, things like this pass. And I, for one, appreciate your candor. Unfortunately, there are some people on this board who feel that a post like this, in which someone is genuinely concerned that something terrible happened to his wife, gives them the right to act like stupid, immature 15 year-olds- and they ought to be ashamed of themselves- if it was their wife, they'd be the ones complaining about being made fun of. Rape is not a sex crime, it's not something a woman brings on herself, and it's definitely not a topic to be made light of, so anyone laughing about your wife getting possibly raped gets an enormous "F**K YOU" from me and others.

I don't see where you contradicted yourself, and I hope everything works out for you and your significant other. Definitely try to keep that a-hole male friend out of her life, and if your wife's the type who likes to drink to the buzz level every once in a while, you should either let her know that you and you only are picking her up if she gets too drunk, or you make sure she has the emergency credit card for calling a cab, and that you won't look down on her at all if she has to call a cab. Definitely don't tell you don't want her going on with her friends anymore, though- that will just turn into resentment and make her want to do it even more, most likely.

    Agreed.

Quite a few insecure little boys running around in this thread trying to play Dear Abbey.

But then again, you should know better than to post things like this on the internet.

Not that i'm defending posters who poked fun at the situation, but the OP was doomed from the start. The problem was posting this as it actually happened. It's hard to take anyone seriously when they're saying something like this is happening and they are going crazy, yet can take the time to refresh the page, type a paragraph and submit it. Personally i would have immediately woken up the kids if they're older or called family/neighbor to babysit so i could go look for her. Maybe the OP doesnt have anyone like that, but in that situation i would find it difficult to wait it out on clutchfans.net. Maybe this will persuade you to find someone like that incase something like this ever happens again. Fortunately everything turned out fine this time, but you should prepare yourself incase there's a next time.

I sort of agree, but I can see his logic for posting on this site- in spite of what I mentioned above, there are a lot of very smart people on this board who frequently provide excellent advice about general as well as specific topics. When you have a situation like this and it's posted here, even though you'll get the juvenile responses, you'll also usually get some very sound advice from several posters/sources, as opposed to calling a friend who may or may not be able to help. Hell, Fatty Fat b*stard made a living off our 3 AM advice. So, don't blame OP at all- but it is true that sometimes, you gotta be careful about posting about events in progress..wait a minute, what the hell would we do with game threads, then? Those provide some of the best comedy on ClutchFans.

But drunkenness is not a laughing matter- well, most of the time:

Call me old-fashioned, but I hope when I'm married with kids that I'm mature enough not to get blackout drunk to the point of losing my valuables and wandering around town until I injure myself. I think it is a good idea for married couples to have guys/girls nights on occasion, but you still need to conduct yourself accordingly as someone who has a spouse and children.

This situation could have been A LOT worse. I'm actually very relieved to hear DRP's wife made it home.

There's a little bit of Betty Friedan in here, as well.

Great post. I couldn't stand to imagine anyone taking advantage of my wife.

I still feel this could have been avoided with a little self control.

Glad it all worked out TS and that clutchfans was an outlet to vent in the time being. For the members who gave you a hard time, don't worry about them. They suck, everyone forum has them and has to deal with them. They are the same members who happen to be the OF's that no one likes. They aren't true fans like us so they won't give a true fellow rocket fan the respect me needs and deserves. They are the YOF's or the T-Mac or the Franchise or the (list any current or ex rocket player) only fans.

    Doubtful.....and it changed here

I am no expert, but this sounds pretty threatening.....and a change of story.

    And lastly........

I am really glad everything turned out well, and your wife got home safely. However, given your current situation, begging for rep is just pathetic. It seems you have bigger things to worry about. Your rep should be going backwards IMO........

i thought about that...but i think the OP just wanted to vent to someone, anyone, and this forum isn't going to hang up on him or tell him they don't want to hear it, so it's a good place to vent....so again, he does deserve some blame for knowing he was over reacting, yet still going through with his story, i mean he even acknowledge being irrational in his very first post and knew it was a "cool story bro" type of post. Also, he'd reply and say he had skipped the replies, so i can't imagine he was honestly looking for advice in that specific moment and instead just wanted to tell someone what he had been wanting to tell his wife, but didnt have time or a chance to.

c'mon now...don't assume yao only fans automatically are bad or sucky people and "true" fans are perfect human beings. Basketball is one thing and life is another. Just because you follow a team religiously doesn't make you Mother Teresa.

wow, i missed alot this weekend...had to bump to say WTF!!!

I always think worst case scenario, so I'd be lying if I didn't think she was with the other guy...however, to go through all the bumps, bruises, etc for a bang, me thinks not...besides, wtf was she doing during the time wandering the streets (IIRC, 2 - 445am)...something really terrible could have happend...glad she's ok, with nothing more than a damaged ego...wonder what she tells the kids about the scraps...

I will say, its ok for spouses to go out and have fun while the other spouse stays home with the kids...however, just act responsibly and not like a drunken teenager and have some self respect, meaning don't be Frank the Tank and have some control...I'm sure she has lots of regrets & should know better but shame on her so called friends for letting this happen and yeah, I would totally beat the crap out of that dude...actually, id go find him at work, but that's how I roll...

good luck and put her in a big time-out...
