Praise you DreamMachine...Like Juan, I have started avoiding this forum because of all the negativity(a big loss ), and it is really cool that finally someone starts a thread to draw the positivity out in the open.. What this place suffers from is expectations that were too high, and people that are so afraid of being disappointed that they start pulling a Chicken Little after every loss(and a few wins). This season isnt over, and it isnt too late for this team to pull it together. If we make the lower seedings in the playoffs, we should consider ourselves sooo lucky. Most "experts" werent expecting us to go far this year anyway, and for the greater majority of people here to think otherwise is just ludicrious. If we make it into the playoffs, don't expect us to get far..but the experience will be invaluable to this team as they are coming together and it will better prepare them to do some serious damage next year. Bottom line to me, this team is still learning and growing. I havent given up on any of them, and if you really consider yourself a fan, neither should you. Does Steve and Cat still make bone-headed moves? Undoubtedly.. Is Yao really strong enough to dominate the league? No way... But good things are happening here(see Posey and the flashes of brilliance that Yao shows) and this season will more than likely continue to be a rollercoaster...get used to it.. The Rockets need our support and critical eye, but being a day trader or a over-reactionary Chicken Little will do nothing to help them other than run up your blood pressure and irritate the sh*t out of your fellow bbs'ers.. Be patient, and enjoy the ride...it makes the payoff that much sweeter at the end.
1 more pt. I am fairly happy with our current record. If we keep it up, we will make the playoffs. But... I am certainly NOT happy with the way we played. I mean the low basketball IQ, no ball movement, no off the ball movement way of playing basketball game.
I've been watching the Rockets since they first moved to Houston from San Diego for the 1971-72 season. Many of the posters on this board were not yet born or at least were in their toddling years. Every year it's the same -- when a Rockets player makes an ill-advised shot and the scream is always "No. nooooo.....yessss!" We always forgive the Rockets for stupid stuff if they win and lament for days on end when the stupid stuff proves to be stupid. My point is this: Be patient. Sometimes the Rockets leave us twisting in the wind, but, more often than not, fans are rewarded with heart-stopping wins in the clutch, i.e., Clutch City. I, too, get frustrated, but would they be entertaining if they won every game ... or lost every game? No, it's the roller coaster that brings us back game after game. Have faith.
A point I think someone made in another thread about making the playoffs, is that we are closer to the third seed, than we are to the ninth seed and falling out of playoff contention. I also like the post in this thread that said it's good that this kind of thing is happening now so that hopefully we can correct it, and play strong going into the playoffs.
I'm moderately pleased with our record. I'm unhappy with how we've got there. The team is even more talented than I suspected, but far less "smart" basketball-wise. We win if we hit bad shots... and lose if we don't, generally speaking. Not a good formula...
This pretty much sums up my frustration with the Rox. We are fighting for a 7th or 8th playoff spot and playing our worse basketball of the season. If we don't improve soon we'll be watching the Lakers and Golden State step over us, leaving us lottery bound again but without a pick! Not making the playoffs will make this season a complete waste.
