What kind of recommendations would you have for someone considering moving out there? What has your experience been like? I know I am sort of hijacking this thread and I am sorry for it, I just thought this might be a good opportunity to ask natives who have been through the transition. I guess I am wondering about things like what type of industries are in town, cost of living, safe versus shady neighborhoods, and just general info like that.

I've spent a fair amount of time working in Irvine and Costa Mesa in the OC. Absolutely perfect weather out there. Loved it. I enjoyed going down to Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, too. You'll enjoy it there

Congrats on bettering your life. You are moving to a much nicer place. The people aren't as good as they are in Houston in general, but factoring in Climate, a nice clean beach and overall opportunity its a better place to live. I wish my parents had done this so that I didn't have to grow up in the ghetto/swamp (Houston).
