So I'm in California this weekend and finally tried In-N-Out Burger...

Animal style is extra lettuce, pickles, and tomatos with extra sauce. You can also get the sauce on the side in packet form.

With their shakes you can order it neopolitan.

That would be the Lard Years, my friend. There is no version of vegetable-based oil that can replicate LARD. Period.

I like In-N-Out, but never ever get the burger without specifying your condiments.

They put thousand island dressing on their burger. That's just gross, and a crime against beef, even ground beef.

Had In-N-Out a couple times last week. I found that I actually prefer two singles instead of one double-double. Also tried Del Taco for the first time Sunday night and it was trash. The fries weren't bad though.

"Animal Style" = the meat is cooked and fried with mustard and then pickles are added, extra spread and grilled onions are added.

Had In N Out a week ago while traveling with the wife, since she never had one. After reacquainting myself with I&O, I am reaffirmed in my belief that this is the most overrated burger joint on the planet. It's in no way bad, and the burgers are good, better than McDonalds for sure. Nice and clean, and nice variety of add-ons/condiments. Fries are greaseless.

Still, if it's a better tasting burger than Whataburger, it's not by more than a couple inches. And as cleanly prepared as the fries are, they are underwhelming to me, and taste a bit bland - almost as if they were old fries reheated by baking (obviously, they aren't).

I feel even more confident (99.999999% versus 99.99999%) that Five Guys kills In N Out. KILLS. Rosenburg can't open soon enough.

I'm with ya, pretty much, but I don't think it has anything to do with being communist or gay. Onion rings are red-blooded, 'merican, manly food. French fries are for women, gays, and the French.

I was in Vegas last week and we had the driver from the airport stop by In and Out before we went to the hotel. It was a great burger, but very over-rated. It was different, but not better, than Whataburger.

You need to just leave Texas dude, you are sounding like a homesick 5 year old with that kind of hyperbole. Do you put coleslaw on your sludge btw? :p

If Tornado Burger on Murphy really is a facsimile of In n Out, I have no idea what the fuss about In n Out is. All this talk is moot anyways, we're talking about fast food burgers. None of them can top a good Texas Burger at any of many mom and pops that make burgers in this state.

Wow, now that looks like a hamburger. Hopefully that picture isn't false advertising.

The day In-and-Out adds cream gravy to the menu, they can JOIN the debate.

Deckard - mmm, Dan's on Manchaca. Good and cheap. They have chicken strips too.

I never saw the big deal about Whataburger.

Tried Five Guys, and it was actually pretty gross. (American cheese is not cheese.) The fries were good though.
