    Im going to do this:

At 9pm, I will call and say my wife is picking up her sister who is flying into town from an airport that is roughly an hour away. She lands at 10:30pm, and I have to wait for her to get back to watch the kid before I can leave the house. I will be in soon.

Call back at 11pm and say they are on their way back and I'll leave the house ASAP.

Besides, the lady covering my shift until I get in will earn the much-appreciated and rare chance to get OT!

Let's hope this game doesn't go into "OT" !!!!

Using your wife and kid as pawns to get out of work? C'mon man! If you're going to be a p***y and make an excuse then do it. But don't drag your wife and kid into your lie.

I'll have no sympathy for you if your boss has a clutchfans account and reads this thread..

gotta wonder how it went. When that kind of thing happens to me I DVR the game and watch it when I get back. (or figure skating competition, or whatever I might actually care about) Even if I was the lying and excuse-making type - which I am not - I would save it for a more problematic or important situation than this. Just saying.
