Not far from there actually. Off Scott and Reed Rd. My Grandpa was dean at TSU for a while and knew the guy that got shot. I remember when I was little this girl got raped and came to our door in the middle of the night bleeding. My uncle wouldn't let her in because a couple niights before some girl had gone to another house in the middle of the night claiming rape and when they opened the door to let her in a bunch of dudes she was with rushed in, guns blastin'. I can't remember if anyone died, but the guys stole everything they could. So, with this in mind, my uncle let the girl lay outside on the porch while he stood just inside the doorway with a shotgun until the cops got there (which took like 45 minutes to an hour). It's so surreal to think of that now. Later on I moved to an even worse neighborhood for a few years in Tulsa, Ok (Trust me, Tulsa has some messed up 'hoods).
It was a female professor that got shot, I think - in 1996, so it was quite a long time ago. It was scary because I used to go to that McDonalds all the time, also at night.
the professor who got shot was a woman. her last name was kline, I remember because I think she was related to someone I knew.
