Hope you feel better soon Meggo. I like watching old movies on TCM or AMC (though AMC has gone seriously downhill of late).
This is a ****ing tragedy. The "Discovery" Channel is no better as it's now the motorcycle channel. Hell, what's happening with cable in general? VH1 is doing its damndest to become a poor man's E!, the SciFi Channel's current idea of their genre includes The Flintstones, and AMC now shows movies as recent as two or three years ago. But anyway, good to see you back. Get well soon.
See how long it takes you to type the alphabet. http://frenzy.morpheme.co.uk/frenzy/ My first time was 6 something but now I'm down to 2.3. One of my friends got 1.8 the other day. I'll probably start playing this again now that finals are over. I get addicted to these types of games really easily...
three suggestions: The first - I just watched the first season of "Rescue Me", the Dennis Leary produced and starred in series from FX, on DVD. It is my current favorite non-HBO series. The second - Buy a game system. I know that this may seem ludicrous, but my wife can attest that they are extremely addictive and can burn time like no other activity. (For example, I have probably logged 50 hours on GTA:San Andreas-X-Box in the last 3 weeks - it is extremely immersive) The third - Read The Black Echo by Michael Connelly. It is a good read and, if you especially dig it (like I did), he has about 8 to 10 more novels dealing with that same character and a few more that do not. Currently, my favorite fiction writer.
First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then I thought maybe we could make ginger bread houses, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle. - elf
It is time for you to start gaming. Either PC or console. If you don't like one type of game try another. You can spend hours playing a good game if you want. Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are all good. If you want to try a shooter, maybe Doom3. For something more story oriented and involved try Jade Empire For something with strategy go for Civilization IV If you want to interact with real people while you play sign up for Everquest. You have the time to become a serious Nerd. I would look into it.
I got the Science channel on the digital cable. It's good. And what about Nick at Night? It used to have cool shows, now it's all crap.
That's been the saddest death for me. I loved watching all the old shows when I was a kid. Bob Newhart, Dobie Gillis, Patty Duke, All in the Family, so on and so forth. Fresh Prince and Full House? What a complete joke.
And a few years ago they did all '80s with Facts of Life, Different Strokes, and Silver Spoons etc. That was great. I pay a lot for my digital cable and I want to see all these old shows but they are nowhere to be found!
Nickelodeon as a whole has gone in the crapper. 80's/early 90's Nickelodeon was as good as TV got: You Can't Do That On Television Salute Your Shorts Clarissa Explains it All Hey Dude Double Dare Welcome Freshman Ren and Stimpy Doug I can understand where Nick at Night is going, though. When Nickelodeon first started back in the early 80's, the parents of the kids watched those old shows from the 60's and 70's. Now, all the kids that watched Nickelodeon originally are grown up with kids of their own, so Nick at Night is showing all the sitcoms that they watched... ...They need to mix in some Night Court reruns, though. That was my favorite show back in the 80's....
I hope you have a good and hopefully not too painful recovery kid. You're too dang young for this stuff aren't you?
OK So here's a new question from me for all you guys who work out: How in the world do you get rid of the soreness? I'm using muscles that I haven't used in 2 years and it hurts like hell! I've completely forgotten how to kick my leg out to the side, or to the rear, or to the front for that matter.... In fact, I've had to relearn how to do every kind of motion with my leg. It BURNS LIKE A b****! I can't sit down, I can't stand up, I can't do anything without feeling the burn. Which is a good thing, I know, but are there any household remedies that would help?
Stretching helps. Bascially you have a build up of lactic acid and a breakdown of muscle. Stretching and light exercise increase blood flow and aid recovery to that area. Massages will also help. Aspirin might help. Or you can do nothing.
I've never heard of someone your age having a hip replacement (besides for traumatic injuries). Unless you have one of those rare problems like AVN of the femoral head or scfe. How did they do the procedure? The standard way or the new posterior approach? As for the soreness, time is a the tincture for all. Whatever you do, don't take aspirin. Tylenol is okay.
