Stereotypes? It's not a stereotype if it's true. Everyone knows olive green means ghetto.

Good job not reading the original post with it's detailed rundown of everything that happened.

First off, its good that your ok, sucks you were put in the situation

2nd, you don't need a police report to get an insurance replacement, they'll replace it for you, for the $49 deductible (hopefully you got insurance before they raised the deductible last year)

as for what phone to get, if your staying with Verizon and liked the Android OS, I'd wait for the Thunderbolt or Bionic. If your wanting a iPhone, get it now if your data bandwith intensive, since they are probably going to only offer the unlimited plan for a limited time before tier data plans based on the rumors going around. If your not a heavy bandwidth user, wait for the iPhone 5th gen phone probably in the summer time or the 4G LTE phone summer 2012.

Your probably better off paying the $50 getting the insurance replacement, then when you get your upgrade, sell the Droid 1, you maybe lucky and get a Droid 2 if Asurion doesn't carry anymore Droid 1s. When you get your upgrade, you can easily sell your Droid 1 or 2 for $100-150. I sold my Droid 1 in Dec for $100 after upgrading to the Droid X

00rocketgirl, u got sucked in the iPhone craze.... :p

    Glad you're ok.

I ride the light rail all the time and I've never seen any violence or crime.

Until about two weeks ago, I got (unsuccessfully) jumped by two guys.

Probably late teens early 20s. One of them got effed up pretty good, so the other ran away. Apparently "thick as thieves" didn't apply here.

I can't believe no one helped you and the train just took off?

    lol.
I've had an ipod touch for over 2 years, which I love and is similar to the iphone, but it was only an 8GB one. Basically I just want an upgraded ipod touch to 32GB and might as well throw in phone capabilities with it. I wish the iphone had an actual keyboard though, but I don't text enough to really care.

exactly, and that I was trying to get her to the Android side a few months back by bragging I could watch the Rockets games on Flash sites (Realsportz/Frontrow) on my Droid X while at work :)

Happened to my mom in Rome:
I was 13 or 14 and in Italy with my mom and two aunts. In Rome, we were walking to the train station. Aunt #1 and my mom were lagging behind a bit as aunt #2 and I were walking 10-20 yards ahead. Suddenly, aunt #2 and I hear this roar behind us. We turn around and see my mom surrounded by Gypsy children and a pregnant woman, presumably their mother, while aunt #1 was swinging a handbag around like a massive flail, knocking those little bastards left and right.

Turns out the pregnant woman had suddenly come up to my mom, using a largish board wrapped in blankets to distract mom while she was immediately accosted by her thieving children trying to pick her pockets and get into her purse. When aunt #1 starting fighting like a bear and aunt #2 and I came running up, they all took off running empty-handed.

    Gypsies. Eff 'em.

When I was in Bali in the late 90's I was with a German girl. While she was buying cigarettes from a street vendor someone, maybe the vendor, took her watch right off her wrist. She didn't notice for about a minute.

Just to add a feel good story about Light Rail. A few years ago I took the light rail from downtown Minneapolis to the Mall of America, this is pretty much from one end of the line to another and a 20+ minute ride. I get to the Mall of America and I realize I don't have my cell phone with me and jump back on the train and check my seat where it wasn't there. I ride all the way back to downtown where I started and get there and start searching around where I was sitting waiting for the train. As I am waiting a teenage kid comes up to me and says "you looking for this?" and holds up my cell phone. He gave it back to me and said he noticed it on the ground under my seat.

    FYI the kid was black.

seconded... rome's gypsy population is crazy. my gf and I were walking behind a construction zone by the subway, and out of nowhere, a gypsy lady tried to hand me a baby while two more stepped out on our flanks. i kept my hand in my pocket, grabbed my gf over the shoulders and stepped through them... didn't look back to see if she dropped her baby on the ground or not, but the idea of it still scares me.

good to hear that you're okay EM.
Don't know if a phone is worth the fight, what if those wackos had a gun? But as things turned out, glad you got in some body punches.

The whole thing about nobody helping, there have been field studies that show people will instinctively restrain from helping others doing such situations. That driver is just as bad as the thieves for not doing anything, if you ask me.

Don't get me started on gypsies... when you are working in healthcare, they are easily the worst people to have as patients. They have to bring their little thieves-in-training and entire family with them everywhere...where they try to steal anything they can possibly take...they clean out the floor's refrigerator of food and stuff for patients, take towels and linen, medical supplies...hell we couldn't restock the frige or their supplies until they left for fear of them stealing more stuff. Their culture when it comes to birth and post-birth rituals is strange as hell. Throughout working with them I've tried to find something positive about their culture, but can't ever see anything. I guess gypsies are good if you are in their clan...otherwise it's seems best to avoid them.

Oh yeah, glad you're ok emjohn.
