In all fairness Mo is the third sometimes 4th option in the offense. And at the end of games he hardly gets any touches. So to compare him the Walker or Pierce is crazy since they are the 1 and 2 options of their team.

I think Mo is a keeper regardless of what we do with Webber. Mo is underated for his defense as I see him move his feet pretty good especially with all the offensive charges he gets from the other team. I have also seen him block a few shots as well.

And as far as scoring in the mid-range he is our best scorer period.

Do you guys even watch Rocket games? He has done this consistently this season. There was a stretch of about 10-15 games where he average 17-18 points and 6-8 boards. See Dec 14 thru Jan 16. http://espn.go.com/nba/profiles/gamelogs/2000/3184.html

Cmon there is no way he is going to avg 23 a game for the season when you got steve and cuttino on your team. There is only one ball. I am happy with 14 pts and 5-6 rebounds from Mo.

I guarantee you if Webber comes here, his scoring avg will go down.

    Tacoma Park Legend,

I never asked where Mo was the first half of the season...BobFinn did, I like Mo, I think he is a good player...not great, just good.

He has his definciencies, like playing smaller then he should, and no rebounding, but he also can score from the outside, and very few 4's can do that.

My only take was that we need a MONSTER at center to get rebounds with Mo at PF.

After reading this thread, I had to register to stop all the Mo bashing. First of all, those numbers he put up were with what, all of about 20 minutes of PT? Excellent numbers. He dominated the game. Rudy said if we weren't playing a back-to-back, he woulda let Mo play all day just to show off.

Second, if we lose Mo, we lose a major part of our chances to be a good team. I LOVE Mo, and in fact I'd rather keep him than sign CWebb. Someone had it right, you bring CWebb in to Houston and his numbers will go down. If you REALLY want a good team, sign Mo long term, let Dream play again next year, and when that year's over, the major free agent will be Vince Carter. Our small forwards have been the weak link this year.

Mo isn't just a good player, he's a great contributor. He hustles, and he's a team player. Not to mention he's a big Dream fan. If the guards would give him the ball in the last 3 periods, his numbers would skyrocket.

    Coach Toast,

Don't you think it's a little bit odd for a newbie to have a signature on his first post?

    Achebe,

What's that have to do with the fact that Mo Taylor is a major reason the Rockets are a threat to make the playoffs?

It doesn't matter when you take the shot, 1-9 is still poor shooting.

If you read the post(authored by Cat) that started this thread, Walker's name was introduced into the discussion.

    Mango,

Come on now, how often has he gone 1-9? If you look at his stats he shoots nearly 50% and alot of those are not dunks or easy "chip" shots. They are jumpers or shots outside of the paint.

The point I was trying to make is that he is not gonna score as much as a Pierce or Walker since he doesnt get as many shot. I like what he is producing at this point.

Why dont you go back and tell me how many times he has had a bad shooting night vs a good shooting night. I would be willing to put down a serious wager that his good nights outweigh his bad nights.

The Cat were you a big Kenny Smith fan too? Because it would fit the pattern perfectly. Show up one game disappear for 10.

Talented players have great games every so often. Good players have them at least once a week. Great players have great games every night. Mo would fall under the talented category.

    cato13,

I am trying to show that fatigue was a factor in Walker's poor shooting performance as it probably was for Taylor on the second night of a back-to-back. The fairest comparison was to pick the Boston game in November since it was basically Tuesday's situation in reverse:

    Same teams
    Similar lineups
    Back-to-back for the visitor

If Taylor has a poor shooting night, is it the back-to-back or too much KG?

    Mo the Magician? LOL

I guess it is appropriate though, he can disappear during games almost at will.

You know Antoine Walker could shoot 4-17 in a gym all by himself. He is renouned for having one of the worst shot selections in the whole NBA. Just because Employee#8 has a bad shooting night doesn't necessarily mean it was because of solid defense.

Look,Mo is only 23 or 24.Take into account that he came out early and would only be in his second year in the league....and we all know that playing for the Clips can stunt a players growth on and off the court. The guy is so fundamentally sound and that is a rare thing these days.I think he has the best mid range J for a big man in the league.(I would have said Dream for years)He has great hands and has shown the ability to post up,but I'd like to see him be allowed to do more of it.The Rocket's guards have dominated the ball like Rudy has instructed them early, but they seem to be working the post players in more and the results are obvious.Mo T is a big part of our success of late.
When he faces guys up,his ball handling and footwork shine through.Taylor is a well rounded offensive player who is only getting better. Now,I understand our need for defense on the frontline, but in the long run,I believe the Rockets will find a way to keep this gem.(and he has shown some spark on the defensive end)We're just undermanned, but I think he is one piece to the puzzle, even if Webber comes here....C'mon CWebb
A couple of more things on Mo..He has that NBA body and I love his attitude.Being on the Clippers has really made him appreciate getting those W's.

    Toast,

Mo helps. Unfortunately his agent is David Falk. Several of the things that he has said before regarding his future contract status suggests to me that the Rockets should be as lose w/ him as he is w/ them.

He's worth maybe four million per year. Unfortunately, he's burned himself on much bigger deals.

Unless he's more mature and knows how to save face, I don't think he'll let the Rockets off that easy. I see him in Detroit.

Hopefully the Rockets get Webber. Then this will all be moot.
