I think Wilfork still has something left in the tank and older guys at that position can still be effective. He just has to stand up and push forward. I think he's a player the Texans could really use.

I hope you're right. I just see him being old, fat, and when's the last time someone the Pats were done with went on to do anything significant afterwards?

LOL, maybe, but they never really used him. I was talking about the players that they used and cut due to age and the like.

VW in town meeting with Texans. Let's get him signed and next to JJ. If he can clog the middle that not only helps the DEs, but the ILBs as well. Git'er done RS!

This would be a good signing. it gives Nix another season or two to get healthy. i think Nix can still be a top player, but VW is a legitimate veteran who can help right now.

Richard Seymour, Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Asante Samuel, Deion Branch.

All of them went on to produce for their next teams.

Pretty much everybody they have let go due to salary concerns has gone on to produce except Randy Moss.

I wish he came 2 seasons ago when he was a free agent then.

Patriots dumped Logan Mankins when he wouldn't take a paycut. He was ranked a top 10 guard last year by PFF. Benjarvus Green Ellis was a least productive the first year he left to the tune of 1000 yards.

Good catch. Also forgot about Wes Welker (his stats declined but then again he was playing 2nd/3rd fiddle).

Mike Vrabel got shipped to Kc after refusing a paycut and he sucked butt, but he was 35 years old and so that was expected.

I'm not sure what that means by standard. Typically, the first team a player visits is his first priority and if he leaves without a contract he doesn't end up there. That's a standard visit in my mind. It's pretty rare in the NFL for a player to go on a tour of teams and then pick one at the end.

He's probaly at Waffle House right now with Crennell and Pancakes slowly killing himself. I think he goes to whoever pays him the most. No favors to anyone. Simple as that.

The "but we'll see how it goes" part is his protection from looking stupid when he signs.

It's very plausible that Wilfork has chosen to sign with someone else, or narrowed down to those teams, but I don't trust John Lopez as a source and I find it strange that their "visit" today is already over by 10AM with a decision not to sign here.

I'll wait until someone else says something, but I will admit to being pessimistic now.

Yeah, John Lopez never breaks news.

The fact that this came at 10AM also seems very suspicious.

Timing is definitely strange. Only reasoning I can think of is Wilfork having a price range in mind to come here and completely out of our budget.
