At least Houston has the Gulf. Yes I know its dirty but you can still get fresh see food and feel the salt water in the air. Also take a look at Houstons down town area compared to Dallas. Dallas is doing nothing to clean up its down town area away from the AAC. Dallas had a great opertunity to really make a difference in its downtown area by bringing the Cowboys back to the city but they could not agree on that and now the Oak Cliff area will never have another opertunity to clean itself up. At least thinks in large part to Minute Made Park and the TC, Houston has at least made some efforts to clean up its down town area.

I've lived in Houston most of my life and I have to say there are some beautiful parts to this city. Heck, go to any building over 8 stories high and look out...all you see is trees. I think one of the biggest negatives for Houston is that the major road in from the North (which is also the major freeway from the airport) might be the ugliest stretch of freeway in America. I think if you could clean up I-45 North from the Beltway into town, you would do a LOT to clean up the image of Houston. Its the first impression of the city for most of the people visiting Houston.
I've been saying that for a while now. But until then, I'm sticking to US75. That's a beautiful highway (at least from downtown to the Turnpike)
Bottom line is that Dallas is just a much prettier city than Houston. It just is. (Just moved back to HTown after being in Dallas for 2 years) Dallas people are very pretentious and Houston has better restaurants, but there is really no comparison as to which city is more aesthetically (sp?) pleasing
Now, of course, with all of my b****ing, I have to agree...That is the only thing Dallas is better at, aesthetics...and that's not saying much... but c'mon, there is no way a highway can be called beautiful... btw, rodrick_98 I may be late to the game, but are you just going to visit or moving permanently? Either way, hope it goes well...
I don't think any city in the country meets all of your criteria. Raleigh may be the closest, but it has a ton of big boxes, too. (They've just kept the trees around them.)
