    This.
We're rebuilding, just not in the conventional way.

Sometimes I just shake my head at this board. The Rockets are in 8th place, two games out of 4th place, and there are conversations whether to tank. Who would want to play for an organization that would make a conscious decision to forgo a chance in the playoffs after 62 games in order to improve its draft position? Of course the Rockets are rebuilding. They have a new coaching staff, lost Yao, Hayes, and Mutombo, and traded McGrady, Brooks, and Battier. But the organization does not get the credit it deserves for being as competitive as it has during this period. A 2-game change in W-L could give us home field in the first round. How many other rebuilding programs can say that?

Pau also said he didn't want to come here to be a part of a "rebuilding situation."

Because I've been a diehard Rockets fan for 27 years. And this is the very first time I've ever felt this way about this team. At least in the years between Olajuwon and Yao, as bad as we were, we had hope. We had Francis and could hope he'd develop into that superstar who can deliver a championship. We had Eddie Griffin with boundless potential. Then there was always hope for contention with McGrady and Yao on the roster. Of course, none of that ever panned out but the hope was there. Now? Our best player is Kyle Lowry and we're too good to rebuild via the draft but not nearly good enough to attract a superstar via free agency. We have stepped firmly onto the treadmill of mediocrity and ownership seems to have no intention to step off.

I'm not trying to make anybody else miserable, but this is how I view the Rockets right now and it is why, for the first time in my 27 years of fandom, I intentionally don't watch the games. Since I was 8 years old I watched every game I could - now I haven't watched them in two months. And I won't move on to another team. It's the Rockets or nothing. If this ship doesn't get righted, the Rockets and the NBA have lost a long time fan.

I'm not even asking for a championship - just a little hope - a little something to look forward to. And if I can't look forward to contending in the playoffs, at least let me look forward to draft day and our future. I'm just sayin'.

Marcus Morris, Donuts, Llull, Chandler Parsons, playoffs, Knicks draft pick.

How is that not exciting?

Here is some hope for you. Montiejunas. Llull. Injuries may take us down to the 12th draft spot this year. Parsons. Parsons. Parsons. And I don't care what everyone says. Having a superstar is not a prerequisite for a championship. Not having one just means you have to be stronger than the opposition at every other position. Dallas had 1 superstar last year and really negated the Heats big three. Nowitzki was only one spot on the roster. Who covered the other two?

    Your poll sucks balls.

Yes Rockets are rebuilding but we most certainly do not suck as bad as Washington or Charlotte.

all of those teams have young players with plenty of potential
wizards - john wall, trevor booker
nets - dWill, marshon brooks, gerald green, humphries
clippers - griffin, jordan, and that guy CP3 (who is a top 3 PG)
Wolves - williams, love, rubio, wesley johnson

i don't follow any of those teams, yet i know they have some very talented players, (the wizards aren't that great, but john wall is pretty good).

other fans in the NBA that don't follow the Rockets think this
Rockets - Lowry, Parsons(chances are that they have no idea who CP25 is)

i know the Rockets are playing well, but our future looks bleak compared to some of those other teams.

I'll tell you, the thing that bothers me most isn't Rambis' comment or even the entire situation how Fisher didn't report to Houston, or even how if and when he tries to weasel his way back to the Lakers...

it's that the media and LA fans have completely re-written history and declared Fisher a lifelong Laker when he was gone for THREE ENTIRE SEASONS!

it's not even worth a comment on their god awful message board comment section, but how can they let this bimbo mutter the words that Kobe has "been with Derek Fisher his entire career"

the deadline to report was yesterday noon time in LA. the deadline was extended to today at noontime (3PM ET) according to this report.

all of that is moot because the buyout is official.

I think we're definitely rebuilding. We're at least 2-3 players away from being serious competitors, but I know we don't suck.

What fans would give up a playoff series to move from the 16th pick to the ... 13th pick.

It would be damn near impossible for the Rockets to fall into the top 10 picks at this point in the season.

Of course we're rebuilding, just doing it the smart way. Some of the young pieces are starting to pan out, such as Lowry, Parsons and Dragic. Sucking to get that one high draft pick that may turn out well, or may turn into a servicable player, or may be a complete bust, is the dumb way of rebuilding.

There must be a campaign to shift blame off Morey on to Les Alexander

At least we're not whiners like the Lakers. Winning how many championships, and they still gripe and moan as if their management owes them something. Hey, their management also wants to rebuild.

At least most of our players do like it here in HOU and do not want to be traded away (well, 'cept for TWill).

I'd be pretty pissed if weren't trying to rebuild. We tried the "les" way and it didn't work. Now its time to gut the team ( not lowry ) for a high pick and to sign a young and up and coming player with our cap space.
