To those that wanted REAL rap. Not that backpacker, juicebox, on the train, studying your 5% lessons, asking for the upliftment of Africa or that flashy, catchy, crappy SuperBatMan poop! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VXyFZkU9bkQ&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VXyFZkU9bkQ&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Lupe Fiasco (My favorite right now) Chamillionaire Some times Ludacris Nas Eminem those are the only current rappers i can listen to I really hope that Eminem album is dropping soon Also, Chamillionaire is actually a good rapper, unlike the rest of the trash that comes out of Houston
You know whats funny, isn't this what all the hip hop heads wanted? For rap to be accepted in the mainstream? Let's be real, it wasn't always like this. Before, rap/hip hop was shunned by White America. Nowadays, rap is everywhere. And when I mean everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE. Commercials, movies, TV, ect. The rap scene was never marketed before like it is now. If I had to pin point the downfall of Rap, I'd have to start with 50 Cent. After his first album dropped, that was when the wave of club tracks started. "In the Club" set everything off. Then it was more about the image over substance. As long as it was catchy and people can dance to it, lyrics didn't matter. I blame Mainstream America. Apparently, this is what the majority of Americans like so its whats in demand. Those type of records are selling. People don't want to hear about the struggles or the politics of the word. So you really can't blame anyone but the fans of the music. Hip hop is not dead. If you want to hear real hip hop, look past the mainstream artist. Don't be turned off by guys you don't see on TV or hear on the radio. Just because they don't sell millions of records, doesn't mean they suck. In fact, some of the worst artist alive sold millions of more records than great artist like K-Rino, Scarface or Devin the Dude.
what you think he's gettin girls now cuz of his looks? and youve never heard resonable doubt if you think jay sucks. please stop posting. you're showing off your musical immaturity.
What are Jay-Z shake your ass in the club songs? Reasonable Doubt? Blueprint? the Black Album? American Gangster? I must have missed them
I know some that also ate up Song Cry, Excuse me Miss, and can I live. 50 cent is more of a Club music rapper.
I never said anything about 50. lets not even put him in the same sentense as jay z or Nas. My point was that Nas has yet to make a shake your ass song. people dontl ike rap cuz they havent heard a nas album.
Money and Soulja Boy. I ****ING hate Soulja Boy, he is the downfall of rap. How the **** can an 18 year old make some of THE WORST music ever and make millions off it and people ****ing love it? Ugh...
Oochie Wallie? You owe me? Nas has made a couple. At one point in time Nas was more popular than Jay-Z.
Rap's always had its Soulja Boys, ie 2 Live Crew, Tag Team, Kriss Kross. It just doesn't have its Public Enemys or NWAs or Tupacs anymore. I would say that the same trend cuts across all lines of music but maybe it's just rap. Maybe rappers are more interested in getting paid quickly, because they're from more poor backgrounds than other musicians, so they don't hone their lyrics and their music as much as someone like John Mayer on the rock/pop side of music who's a great example of someone who's gone through step by step maturation in his music. I think the talent is out there though, it's just not being cultivated for some reason. I think Chamillionaire can emerge as a real force one day, I like his stuff a lot though his last album isn't as good as the one before it. Unfortunately it might take another west coast/east coast rap rivalry to raise rap back to where it was in the 90's.
i agree with almost all of what you said. I don't have any problems with Luke, Kriss Kross and others though because they were originals. Yeah they may have been a little corny but they did their way, they didn't copy a formula. That's the problem
Rap kills country. Snoop Dogg <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/flkqQ1H87nc&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/flkqQ1H87nc&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
