Yeah, those matchups make the most sense to me.

Has Sloan named Miles the starter? If that's the case, it wouldn't surprise me if McGrady defended him and left Kirilenko to Snyder.

I would bet if we don't get off to a good start the JVG comes in wit Novak for Snyder and let's Novak guard Okur out on the perimeter.

This unit could very well shut down teams at the start of games. Rafer is the weakest at stopping penetration, but the overall speed and quickness of the 5-man should cover for that. Yao had an absolutely terrible start to the preseason (in terms of defense), but got better the later games.

This unit also has the potential to struggle offensively too at the beginning. I see JVG putting in Novak early in games like he did in the later part of the preseason, if the team can't get going offensively.

no surprises with Snyder. He was the guy who came in and played hard at both ends from the start of camp.

gives us a solid defensive starting 5. except for Rafer.

How is Snyder more solid than Rafer? Rafer played great in the preseason.

Defensively! Rafer is great offensively, but still pretty loose defensively.

Snyder did a good job of picking up alot of garbage to earn the starting spot, no complaints here, hopefully he can continue to get points without the ball in his hands much. Looks like we are going to get a good look at Battier at the 4.

Well, from all the games I've seen him play, he does hog the ball a little bit, but not enough to say that he never passes. He still defers to yao and tmac, so he's no mike james. :p

The only one worries me is Okur -- hope he won't break Yao's foot again.

most of us would've guessed that snyder got the 5th spot.

now against utah, i'd matchup like this:

    yao on boozer
    shane on okur
    snyder on kirilenko
tmac gets the night off on miles.
    rafer on williams

boozers low center of gravity might be hard for yao to defend on the post, but at the other end yao would shoot right over him and shane could take it to the whole on boozer and okur all night.

    Is this right?

JVG actually likes the younger players now?

He is benching Juwan and starting Snyder.

    Wow. :)

What have the Rockets done to JVG?

    Where is our real coach?

it was never proven by anyone that the urban legend about VG hating rookies was true.

thats a misconeception that the uninformed and the ignorant (along with people who hate VG) kept spreading around.

Fantastic, as long as there's no Juwan on the floor.

    Hey R2K

I checked out rocketredrockers and I noticed you had provided the link to the torrent yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised, because I thought you didn't have a chance to record the game. THanks so much for all your hard work. It is appreciated immensely.

I wish I had started the torrent yesterday, but it should finish downloading in a couple of hours. :)

The lineup seemed like a given. The only debate would be if Bonzi starts ahead of Snyder, but w/ his lack of practice Snyder was a shoe-in. Not to mention we may realize this lineup has better chemistry by not having so many scorers at the same time. If Bonzi is the #1 or 2 option on the court coming off the bench he could have more opportunities to score. It's a nice problem to have :)

Yao can't matchup "3pts shooter" Okur~~We need Battier to defend that guy and put Yao on Boozer~~
