I never ever like to see any player hurt. Snyder is a 3rd year player still developing his game. He has an upside. He does slash to the basket. Attacking the basket for inside scoring is tough physically, but is high percentage with points at foul line too. It takes guts to play that way.

Snyder is an athletic player unlike anyone else we have on the roster-he is 6' 6" and much stronger than he appears I believe. He does a lot of little things to help.

Get well Snyder - you will be missed.

He's not hitting his 3's, that's about all he's done poorly.

His defense and toughness have been good for this team.
He's been hitting inside the arc at a very nice %.
His rebounding is very good for a SG.
He goes to the rim hard, draws some fouls.
    He's quick and athletic.
His passing has improved, more assists and less TO's than last year.

Overall, if he had a made a few more 3's, he could be considered an EXCELLENT player in the rotation.

However, we have most depth at the swinman positions. So this injury should be covered. It is an opportunity for V-Span and Bonzi to step up. Maybe Luther should get more minutes as his scoring efficiency has been AMAZING.

A pinch of V-Span at backup PG and backup SG, and a pinch of Bonzi at backup SG/SF should cover it.

I cannot believe many of you. Celebrating the injury of a Rocket? This is one of the most disgusting displays of behavior I've ever witnessed on this board. Kirk Snyder is a good young player. He, too, has upside. He, too, is still developing - just like your precious VSpan and your precious Novak. I have hoped that VSpan and Novak can earn some playing time too - but at the expense of another of our players being seriously injured? Many of you hadn't even the decency to acknowledge that it sucks Snyder is seriously injured before you started celebrating that JVG will have to start playing VSpan or Bonzi.

    I'm seriously disgusted by this.

I hope Snyder recovers quickly. You better believe we will miss his length and athleticism at the two-guard.

I hope he has a speedy recovery. Snyder is a very important player for us. he is still very raw as a player, but the talent is definitely there.

the rule isn't simply that someone else can shoot the FTs, but rather that THE OTHER TEAM gets to PICK who will shoot the FTs. they usually pick the worst FT shooter, who happens to be cold, sitting on the bench.

pietrus will not be able to handle PG duties. given JVG's lack of trust in JL3 and V-Span (and Skip, to a degree), there's NO way in hell that JVG trades Luther without getting at least a genuine PG in return.

where's that "Random Trade Idea Thread?" your trade goes in there.

 Thanks for your response! That's exactly what I was thinking. I can imagine other posters from other sites/teams or even some of our Rockets (players or anyone from the organization) coming in and seeing some of the negative responses about one of our players getting hurt.

Clutch and everyone else involved has worked hard to create the image our site has and negative comments (about someone getting hurt) sometimes do not help.

Everyone does have the right to post their thoughts (negative or positive) and that's what makes this site "the best".

I didn't get to see the game last night, so I don't know how this injury happened. A broken hand is not the most common injury in the NBA. I have been going through the threads, but I can't find any info on how it actually happened. It is never good news when a player is injured.

The kirk injury is a lot like the hayes injury as far as players that arent the best on the team but that we definitely need.

here are some pros and cons...

    pro- give vspan more time
give a reason for jvg to activate bonzi so that he can get in shape
in 10 weeks we will have a fresh player in kirk

cons- we have no one that slashes to the basket as aggresively (yes including
    tmac right now)
he is a great contributor off the bench and can run the fast break
like hayes he brings energy although not as consistantly

i hate to see any of the rockets get hurt for this long. of course it would be worse if hayes was out for this long.

the reason they didn't take of Snyder and subbed him out was because they did not know how serious the injury was. if the injury was a mild sprain for example and they would have substituted Snyder, he would not have been able to come back into the game. Im sure if they had known it was broken he would have been subbed earlier.

Look like he collided with someone's back, just ran into the guy and his hand got crushed. He was in pain immediately afterwards.

At first he was looking like he just badly jammed his fingers, but after the first free throw it was clear there was something much more wrong. He winced much more after that and JVG came over and yelled at him to airball the second free throw...

10-12 weeks is a long time!

his slashing and rebounding will be missed. a big athletic guard was just what we needed.

however, vspan and bonzi entering the rotation seems like a plus.

Yeah it sucks that Snyder is out, he has helped alot but you don't know if it's a blessing in disguise or not until later down the road. We have guys like Killbill who will be givin a chance now to show what they got and thats always cool, Snyder also might come back hungrier then ever you don't know.

All I'm saying is you can't call him a fan in disguise just because one of our players got injured.

If I remember correctly T-Mac said his injury last year was a BLESSING IN DISGUISE... and I agree with him too so am I therefore a 'fan in disguise'. That injury unleashed the MVP candidate monster Yao we see now

So in do time we will see whether or not it is or not. Till then I say it sucks Synders out, though NOT ALL IS LOST

In case it hasn't been mention yet, this is a blessing in disguise.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the term "blessing in disguise" usually connotes a period of time after which one looks back and sees that events at first thought to be bad led to a good outcome. I don't think it really is a "blessing in disguise" if the good things are readily apparent. It's just a "blessing." Those of you claiming this is a "blessing in disguise" less than 24 hours after the calamity are really saying it's a blessing that Snyder broke his hand. That position is based on "ifs" and wishes, which is no way to run a basketball team. I don't think it is a blessing, but I will be watching to see if it is a blessing in disguise. We should know by June.

    Get well Kirk.
