Waive a physical for a player going under microfracture?.. Well, McGrady hasn't been traded. Maybe the Rockets are still looking out for him so they can sign him to an extension?
i read similar things on *************** not a very credible site. but their stories collaborate about the vince carer - tmac trade. Perhaps it was a Morey playing-close-to-the-chest type scenario? I'm more inclined to believe it now though. It explains a lot.
Tracy was putting up fairly good numbers. Back to back triple doubles while scoring 20 points. This was a good move for a franchise that wasn't going anywhere. They could get a star that would continue to sell tickets for them while shedding some salary. T-Mac sabotaged it. He needed to pass the physical.
He wouldn't have passed a physical last year. Anyone who watched the rockets play last year could see the guy was limping. Any team trading for him was shedding a long term contract, thats it and waiving the physical.
Sure he could have. Microfracture surgery doesn't happen because of structural damage to a knee ligament or a tendon...it's a procedure to attempt to "regrow" cartilage due to wear and tear. You can pass a physical with little to no cartilage...it's all about your pain tolerance Are you trying to give TMac a pass for what he did by saying that he wouldn't have passed a physical anyway? So that makes it okay for Tmac, on the DAY that espn and other websites have "TMac for Carter talks" on their front pages, to tell Stephen A Smith that he is having micro surgery...when we still had two doctors waiting to examine him? Also, he didn't notify the team...he notified Screamin' A. A ton of the media had reported that we were in serious discussions. This did happen...ESPN had a giant pic of TMac on their home page with "McGrady for Carter"
I understand your perspective, but what if the Rockets did think he could pass it... because their doctors said so (because they said he needed to play through the pain) and the Nets wanted him to be able to play. Then said deal would fall through because one of the conditions could not be met. Edit.. dang Blake said basically the same thing just before me.
1) he notified keith jones before stephen A (keith jones said the same thing). unfortunately, he did not allow the team to make the announcement. and seriously? tmac was still limping and just missed a freakin breakaway dunk the last game. what sane GM or team or anybody is going to think he's going to keep playing the rest of the year on a consistent basis? it doesn't matter if he did or did not pass a physical, tracy was not going to play again for the rest of the season. if the trade was to happen, it would have happened regardless (i.e. the team trading for him knows that there is 99.999% chance he wouldn't play again that year regardless of microfracture surgery or not).
Adelman: "Hey Daryl, we got a Rocket that wants to be traded so he can get playing time. Obliiiiige him!" If someone could photoshop an Inglorious Basterds pic with Morey as Aldo Raine, Morey as the Bear Jew and Tslack as the Nazi that would seriously rock.
I have to say that I'm impressed by your persistence. Your posts are so adamant despite being 100% wrong.
I know this is not new. And to this day, it still does not make sense. Why would a player go through a potentially career ending surgery just to block a trade? Not to mention this is McGrady's contract year. Is he really that stupid? Even if he is, his agents ought to be smarter than that.
The surgery had 2 parts. First, it blocked the trade. Second, it allowed him to be in his best possible shape for his contract year. It was the best thing he could've done for his career.
I think he was already considering surgery as an option. And then when he found out that he could be traded, he felt somehow betrayed and decided to declare he was out for the year.
Let me get this straight. T-Mac informed the team. Except he bypassed the owner, president/VP of the team, the GM, head coach, assistant coaches, and straight to the TRAINER. Really now? That makes it okay? Umm... No... Unless you think every single injured player require microfracture surgery.
