The same people? I have only recently started posting. This is the first time I have even mentioned anything remotely close about SNL. Tina Fey just sucks. Female comics are simply not funny, especially in stand up or when a skit revolves around them. That's my point with saying she is a head writer and that she sucks. Perhaps I didn't clarify what I meant about Darrell Hammond; I didn't say he left, I simply said the best of the trio left. So, "UH", maybe they should fire some more writers and get some better ones. Horatio Sanz and Darrell Hammond are the best thing on SNL right now and that isn't saying much. Weekend update is stupid. Since Colin Quinn left, I have laughed once or maybe twice a night for their bogus news. All they do now is bash the President which was funny at first, but now it's just redundant and r****ded. They need to get a new punching bag. While acting and writing complement each other, the writing is just stupid. The same sketches, the same targets....it's annoying. They need to bring back Will Ferrell. Oh yes, did I say Tina Fey sucks? Yes, I did say female comics are not funny. Then again, females can't drive worth a flip either, so why should I expect them to be funny? Call me sexist and misogynist or whatever you want but what I say is true to me.
Bashing the President is one thing, but when half of SNL every night does it is when I get annoyed. All weekend update does is make fun of him because he is a good ol' boy who doesn't know his ass from his elbow. That seems to be the only thing anyone says about him. I appreciated Will Ferrell's excellent portrayal of President Bush. Every time is was hilarious.
the writing is just stupid hmm... Tina Fey just sucks. ... Horatio Sanz and Darrell Hammond are the best thing on SNL right now and that isn't saying much. ... Since Colin Quinn left, I have laughed once or maybe twice a night for their bogus news. ... They need to bring back Will Ferrell. Given your complaints, it seems the problem is more the cast than the writers...
Except Tina Fey is the main writer. I caught a little bit the other night. Funniest I've seen since Ferrell left.
Speaking of Ferrell, I have a story about him. While waiting to see Walking Tall saturday night, we had a couple of guys behind us that would never shut up. While they were showing the movie trivia on the screen, one came up about Colin Farrell playing soccer when he was younger. The dude behind me says " I didn't know that dude from Elf used to play soccer." Idiot.
Except Tina Fey is the main writer. I caught a little bit the other night. Funniest I've seen since Ferrell left. Yes, but she was also the main writer when that trio that he liked was still here. The thing that changed was the cast (and most of whta pointed out), not the head writer.
It's probably a combination of both. Tina Fey's probably never been that great a writer, and we're seeing that now without a good cast.
I think some in the cast have potential. -Mya Rudolph consistantly makes me laugh. She has a couple of good recurring characters. -Darrall Hammond is great of course, but they don't use him enough. He should be used like Farrell was used towards the end of his stay. -Chris Parnell is pretty funny. He plays a great 'straight guy'. -Horashio Saenz is funny, but they need to do more with him than just 'the laughing stoned guy' schtick. His Elton John is classic. On the other hand. -Fey isn't funny -Fallon is mildly funny but he's in every skit -Seth Meyers. WTF? That guy is sooo not funny. -The guy that replaced Tracy Morgan is trying to be Tracy Morgan.
Seth's brother Josh is on MadTV. I wonder which show their parents watch and which one they record. Seth does a decent John Kerry tho. I liked Tracy's version of Star Jones better than Keenan's.
Tracy did the best "intimidating black man" vs. the other guys. I don't know if they have done that since Ashton Kutcher hosted. Tracy was very dynamic, I loved him. Horatio Sanz as Elton John is hilarious every time. As much as I dislike female comedy, Maya Rudolph is a very dynamic actress and Amy Poehler is pretty funny, although she does play the dumb blonde a lot. Cheri Oteri is probably my favorite though, especially when she and the "other" dude from Elf are in the same skit (Morning Latte, the cheerleaders). Chris Parnell does a pretty good rap (as much as I hate rap) and he is coming into his own as well as Fred Armisen.
