The fact that he can sing/dance, which allows him the flexibility to do the "omlette/plastic ville" sketch, d*** in a box, or the always awesome Barry Gibb talk show makes it that much easier for the writers. Actually, in the three times he's hosted, his non dancing/singing sketches were probably average at best.... but he's got pretty damn good timing, and when he's singing/dancing, he's at his comedic best.
Honestly, this was an amazing skit. Other stars might make fun of themselves when they come on the show, but most of the time the laugh is cheap and awkward. He made this work.... object width="512" height="296"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/NZ1MZ5ac_4XSxW-EliJS4A"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/NZ1MZ5ac_4XSxW-EliJS4A" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="512" height="296"></embed></object>
Man, just when I’m about to jump off the SNL bandwagon after 30+ years of loyal viewership, they come with this show. I thought it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in years, top to bottom. Pretty much every skit made me laugh out loud at least once. That hasn’t happened since the last time Jim Carrey hosted, which I still consider the funniest episode I’ve ever seen. Too bad they couldn’t have had a better musical guest. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but Timberlake is very funny and pretty damn talented. He’s got some serious comedic chops and naturally great timing. I loved when he said “I hit it” about Britney. And the plastic surgery dancing bit, that wouldn’t have worked with anyone other than Timberlake. The guy actually carried the show. Amazing. Will Farrell is hosting the season finale next week, so that episode is looking pretty good too.
You probably liked that horrible Target sketch towards the beginning of the show. It was like they took the craptastic idea of Gilly and made it worse.
Nope, that was the weakest skit of the night. Only part that made me laugh was Timberlake dancing while that lady was checking a price. I've seen that skit before. I don't really get it. Gilly, on the other hand......
Question for you lot. Does anyone else feel the love for Susan Sarandon or is it just me? I think if I ever got the chance(Obviously will never happen) I'd absolutely smash it. I think she's aged quite well. I worry, am I a sicko or do others feel the same love for her?
This one had it's moments <object width="512" height="296"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/j7NtpFEKwTX7birk4jJL8A"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/j7NtpFEKwTX7birk4jJL8A" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="512" height="296"></embed></object>
I actually like the beat and the lyrics to this one over DIB. "Cuz when I'm in your mother, i'll never use a rubber..OOOOOOOH!"
Timberlake and Alec Baldwin are the two best hosts. It's obvious they are good by the number of skits they are in. The weak hosts aren't in all of the skits.
I saw one of them and, to be honest, I thought it might have been just a fluke. This past episode certainly dispelled that myth. You know, my all-time favorite episode was when Jim Carrey hosted. The one where he was the obnoxious lifeguard at the hot tub. I think that was the same one with the RIDE THE SNAKE skit, where he was the coked up TV exercise instructor. I tried to find some YouTube clips, but I couldn’t find any. I’d love to see that lifeguard skit again. Carrey and Ferrell both sharing the stage and in their primes.
This was on last week. Nice classic skit. <object width="512" height="296"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/2TFrahGtKZuLBol4gcWm7g"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/2TFrahGtKZuLBol4gcWm7g" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="512" height="296"></embed></object>
I loved the Jeopardy skit because it’s almost like 3 skits in 1 – 1 for each character. Hanks was brilliant in this one. “And it looks like Tom Hanks is stuck in dry cleaning plastic.” LOL. The chick playing Kathy Lee was funny too, she really nailed it. And McDonald coming back as Burt Reynolds was awesome. “I’ll take Chinamen for 200.” I laughed my ass off. Pretty good show overall. Man, that last skit with everyone singing that Billy Joel song was just really weird. Cameos galore. Very random. You could see Farrell’s influence all over that one. Oh, and I hate to admit it, but Greenday was really good. Especially that first song.
