I thought the sketch writing was pretty sharp this week. The Rockobama, Two gay guys in the army, orgasm girl, Beauty and the Beast... all good Keenan Thompson had his best show ever. What Up With That was great. When you judge SNL you have to say "As compared to what?" But. I do watch it on DVR so it only takes about 35 minutes and I did watch Shakira in fast-speed. The booty shakin doesn't need sound.
It’s funny, I still love the show and I hope it NEVER gets cancelled. But as someone who has loyally watched the show for the better part of 30+ years (I still remember sneaking into the living room to watch the original not ready for primetime players after my parents fell asleep), I feel like I sort of have the right to criticize a bad skit or cast member. I see it as constructive criticism. I’ve never been one of those “this show SUCKS!!!!!!!111” kind of guys, but as a fan, I will criticize anyone or anything that’s lame. The main reason I watch the show is because I like to try and figure out who the next break out star is going to be. No matter how bad the show is, there’s always one person who shines. I think this season, that person is Kristen Wiig. She’s just so weird….and I mean that in a good way. Anyway, I have the show DVR'ed and I haven't watched anything but the Rock Obama skit. I thought the idea was hilarious, but like Hilltopper said, it seemed like the pacing was off. I'll watch the rest tonight.
Not saying you're wrong, but I thought it was pretty obvious that Wiig is the big name of the cast. She's the only one that's had decent roles in major movies. I find SNL more entertaining than I did a few years ago. Wiig and Bill Hader make it funny enough to me.
Does anybody else skip watching SNL and just keep an eye out for threads that post the good SNL skits? I know I do.
Agree 100%. Had me laughing pretty hard several times. DVR is the way to go to skip the commercials and musical guests.
i hear you...you know me, i just get annoyed when people jump into threads like this to make these comments. it's not constructive, it's more of a ha, i think something sucks that you like. dubious, i was in tears laughing at jason sedekis (sp?) during that keenan skit. doing the slo-mo kid-n-play was awesome!
