After Adrian Peterson's game today, against a pretty elite defense, I don't want to hear any hype around Reggie Bush until he can duplicate a similiar effort. Hell, is there a better RB in the NFC right now than Peterson? Come February, he'll be lounging in Hawaii for the pro-bowl, while Bush will be shooting another commercial.
Yay...a great game for Bush. Maybe he can keep it up and become as good as some of the other backs from his draft (Addai, MJD and arguably Maroney). I doubt he will be as good as the top back from this years draft (AP). I hear that McFadden dude is a stud too. Either way the Texans seem to have made the right move by passing on Reggie....
Both he and Michaels were absolutely sickening and lost any possible pretense of objectivity during the Saints' Sunday night win over Dallas last year. I haven't looked at them the same since.
Bush needs to do something other than pimp ads. Dude has not pulled his own weight so far. Kind of sounds like Mario. Come to think of it, has anyone from that draft done anything yet?
the top 3 drafts have been mediocre at best. but, most probably don't want to admit that when it comes to "their" guy.
It's amazing that it has taken 21 games for Reggie to have a run over 20 yards. Wasn't he supposed to be a guaranteed touchdown whenever he touched the ball where ever he was on the field?
Bush averaged around 8 yards per carry tonight, that is always your stat that you dwell on when he has a bad game, so at least for tonight, Cat, you should be quiet. The saints finally blocked somebody tonight, Brees even had time to throw. Bush is a good running back. Not near as good as Adrian Peterson, but he's still a good running back. End of Story.
What?!? Bush rushed 19 times for 97 yards... that's an average of 5.1 yards per carry. 8 YPC? And no, one good game won't silence me, nor any of his critics. You see, Bush wasn't hyped just as a good running back. After all, those are available in the mid-to-late first round every season. To justify a No. 1 overall selection at the running back position, you need to be transcendent and dominant -- not an occasional good game of 97 yards, once every fifth game. Bush was a good running back tonight. The fumble wasn't good, but by and large, carrying the ball 19 times for 97 yards (5.1 YPC) is getting it done. I'll give him props. However, to be a good running back overall, you can't do that once every five weeks. You have to have that kind of performance week after week. He's not there yet, so your proclamation is still premature.
I'm actually quite happy for Reggie. For the past couple of weeks I've kinda felt sorry for the guy ... it must be a horrible feeling walking around for months with a huge monkey like that on your back, growing larger and larger with every Dish Network commercial that airs. I hope this is the start of some consistent offensive production from him, for his sake ... that said, I'm still glad we picked Mario.
I stopped watching the game at halftime, and he was averaging around 9 yards per carry. I didn't even check his final numbers. You say he can't run between the tackles in the NFL. Tonight, IMO, he proved that he could. Combine that with how great of a receiver he is and I think you have potential to spend a #1 overall pick on this guy. Thats just my opinion.
ahhh. a bush thread, haven't seen one of these in a long time. has the overated "rb" actually accomplished something?
You don't prove you can run between the tackles in one game. Anyone is capable of putting it together on a few runs here and there. Trung Candidate was a speedster who many doubted had the strength to run between the tackles... in 2001 game for the Rams when Marshall Faulk was injured, he ran for more than 200 yards. Many people (sadly, including myself), proclaimed him the next big thing... as did the Redskins, when they signed him to a huge deal. (Moe, I know you're loving this analogy, haha.) What happened to him? Where is he now? One game doesn't a season/career make. By the way, the second half somewhat countered your argument. Bush was at 88 yards after nine carries, and proceeded to gain just nine yards on his next 10 carries. When the Saints were trying to run clock by playing power football... Reggie didn't succeed. In fact, he also lost a fumble. That said, I do agree with you that overall, tonight was a good night for him. But you don't prove anything by one game... or two games, or three games. He's got to do this on a consistent, regular basis to prove what he can (or can't) do.
AD is doing what Reggie Bus_ was supposed to do last year. Bus_ was nothing but a cheap placeholder, a stand in, a stunt double with a bad wig, wearing the wholly undeserved mantle of "next great running back." Really, he was just keeping the seat warm for the real phenomenon, AD. Well, move over, Bus_, AD has arrived, showing the world what a real rookie sensation looks like.
Lolz, I seem to remember a bet involving Trung Canidate and Warrick Dunn. then again... I seem to remember proclaiming around the same time on this board that Peerless Price was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Seriously. As a rookie two year ago with the Packers, our very own Samkon "sucks out loud" Gado had a stretch of 3 100-yard rushing games in 8 games, including an impressive 171-yard showing against the Lions. Man, if Gado, undrafted in 2005, can do that, I would hope the #2 pick in the draft could at least match that. (And for reference, the 2005 Packers went 4-12, so yes, they also sucked.) What are you, 12 years old? Are you also easily distracted and amused by shiny metal objects, too? Yeah, sure, you're not a troll.
