They are going to meet more often, when the risk of a no season at all gets bigger.

look like the NFL, from march to early june they didnt meet a lot, but then in mid june they started to meet more, because there was more urge to solve the problem, since the season was coming soon.

I think the reg. season will start in january.

Why would they meet again on Monday if they have already decided to cancel the 1st 2 weeks of the season?

Is not official yet, still got hope, David stern said that last week, that if they dont get a deal on monday they will cancel games, but maybe its just to hurry up things, will wait till next week.

Taking page from NFL players during their lockout, @derekfisher & @CP3 will Tweet out "LET US PLAY" on Monday & invited players to do same.

I think if 52% is offered tonight from the owners, the players would act on it and get a deal done tonight.

The owners "said" they wouldn't go above 50/50 but why would they act so desperately to have a last second meeting if they wouldn't move up more?

Im only really siding with the players in this situation because I feel like from what we have seen in reports, the players have negotiated appropriately and professionally, and the owners have used age old used car salesman tactics of bargaining.

The players were always willing to give up some money in good faith but they had to make sure they didnt give away the whole pie. Completely understandable.

    My prediction for tonight -

-Stern and co. offer players formal 50/50 split,
-players walk out shaking their heads for a group meeting come back and say 53 is where we are at but if you go to 52 tonight, we will entertain it.
-Stern and co go back to owners and they balk at the offer.
-As players are about to walk out the door, Stern and Silver ask them if they will entertain a 51/49 split.
-Players leave with informal offer of 51/49 split, and continue talks at mid week point and repeat process to get to 52/48 by the end of this next week.

First two weeks of regular season needed to be cancelled anways to get proper training camp/free agency timing situated. The fact that they are at 50/50 split this early in October is a positive sign that we actually might get 50+ games to watch this year. I always believed the January 1st start was very realistic.

NBA and union began meeting at 6pm. Conflicting info about how it came together, but told it was not based on owners softening on 50-50.

As labor meeting unfolds in NY, several NBA execs have hope of deal in next 24-48 hours. Why? They don't have faith in players holding line.
