That's really suprising considering the amount of internet buzz it got; then again they didn't heavily promote via normal routes and the tv commercials were very inconsistent in their delivery.

Damn, the gross for Snakes on a Plane was horrible. I don't even want to know what it would have made without all the internet buzz. What else could they do?

It only cost about $30 million to produce, and they didn't need any marketing, so I'm sure it will make plenty of money...

I just got back from seeing it and I was entertained. For 8 bucks it was well worth it. Some parts are freaking nasty and some parts are really funny.

I think it'll make a ton more on DVD than it ever will on the big screen.

Most movies have about a 40% drop off from their first weekend take, so I don't think they'll be a massive Box Office total for the flick when it's all said and done

Thing is...its tv campaign was less than stellar. I didn't see too many commercials (that you normally would) and in the commercials I saw, one tried to be serious and another tried to be as campy as possible. I think it made casual audiencs not knowledgable about all the advance buzz confused. Compound that with the late August release date when families and parents and kids are getting back to school, and it's really no suprise. Plus, I think maybe all that internet buzz was beginning to lose steam too. It'll probably make a s**tload on DVD...but then again, will people who saw it and loved want to buy it on DVD as I'm sure the lack of a crazy audience will impact repeat viewings.
