I finished my smoking, which started at a Starship concert at the Southern Star Amphitheater and continued for twenty years, just over a year ago. For me it was using the patch and chewing regular, non nicotine gum during times when I thought I would want a cigarette. In traffic, after meals, etc. Chewing gum helped the oral fixation a lot. Turns out I was very dependent on something changing the taste in my mouth after eating. I had tried many, many times before and always failed miserably. For those of you that have never smoked or never quit, it really, really sucks. Part of my inspiration to not start again is that I never want to go through quitting again. I read the new David Sedaris book, which helped too.
[My e-smoking experience and Houston area suppliers] I jumped into the e-cigarette world about 6 weeks ago or so. I figured I'd bring this thread back up because I've had a bit of luck going from being frustrated with trying out e-smoking for the first time to enjoying it so much that a regular cigarette is almost unbearable. "Vaping" is something that takes a little trial and error before you figure out what works for you. I think my biggest problem with my initial experience is that the cartridges would run out quickly and did not yield the equivilent of near the number of cigarettes the manufacturers claimed (most say around a pack per cartridge). Also, if you stick to pre-packaged cartridges, your flavor selection is extremely limited. After doing a little research, I found places both online and locally in the Houston area that sell e-juice to refill the cartridges you get with the e-cig. Topping off your cartridge so you get a good drag of a flavor that tastes good to you makes all the difference in the world! I also like knowing I can purchase parts and juice locally instead of waiting. I am curious to see if anyone else has gotten into this and if the Chantix is working for FFB. Also, for those who care, I've found E-Juice at.. Tobacco for Less on Mason Rd. in Katy Smoke Dreamz (if you don't mind all the pot head type characters) on Richmond and Hilcroft They also sell the starter kits but you'd probably do better online because they are a bit overpriced. I'd like to know if anyone has found other local suppliers too.
