God, i hope you're joking. Drox: if you'd like a recipe, try this one out. I posted it in the recipe thread a while back. Fatty's Brisket This is time consuming, but awesome. Fatty's Rub Ingredients: 3/4 cup paprika 1/4 cup pepper 1/4 cup salt 1/4 cup sugar 2 Tbs. chili powder 2 Tbs. garlic powder 2 Tbs. onion powder 2 tsp. cayenne pepper Directions: mix spices in a bowl. place in tupperware. It'll keep forever. Makes 2 cups. Fatty's Mop Ingredients: 1 12 oz. beer 1/2 cup cider vinegar 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup corn oil 1/2 onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves 1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce 1 Tbs. Fatty's Rub Directions: Combine ingredients in a saucepan. Heat when ready, and use warm. Fatty's Brisket Ingredients: One bloody brisket Directions: The night before you plan to BBQ, apply Fatty's rub into the brisket, massaging it everywhere. Use all the rub except one tablespoon. Place brisket in a bag and refridgerate overnight. Before you smoke, take brisket out of fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 45 minutes. Prepare the smoker, keeping temp. between 200-220 degrees. Transfer brisket to top of smoker, Fatty side up! Cook it at 1 hour per pound. Every hour, baste the brisket with Fatty's mop. Take out Brisket, slice it up, and serve with Fatty's BBQ sauce Ingredients: 1 Tbs. corn oil 1 medium onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves 1 cup tomato puree 1/2 cup cider vinegar 3/4 cup water 6 Tbs. brown sugar 6 Tbs. chili powder 1/4 cup tomato paste 3 Tbs. worcestershire sauce 1 Tbs. yellow mustard 1 Tbs pepper 1 Tbs. corn syrup 1 Tbs. liquid black smoke Directions: In a saucepan, warm oil over medium heat. Saute the onion and garlic until soft, about 5 minutes. Shove in the rest of the ingredients, and mix well. Reduce heat to low, and cook for 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
Note to all of y'all, but especially Smeg: If you're free at all tonight, you should really go see Carolyn Wonderland and the Rehabiliteens at Dan Electro's tonight. Carolyn's one of Texas's great music treasures. An amazing blues singer and guitar player with a crackerjack band that's won countless Houston Press music awards, toured the country extensively and even jammed with Bob Dylan, a close personal friend who called her music the most authentic stuff he'd heard in years. It seems a shame to me to come all the way from Australia and not check her out. For more info, go to carolynwonderland.com. Even better, the Rehabiliteens are made up of CW's old backing band The Imperial Monkeys. Eric Dane (guitar), Chris King (bass) and Leesa Harrington (drums) are as good on their instruments as anyone in the Lone Star State. (RMT - can I get an amen?) Leesa also plays in Jeff's band Orange is In. Tonight's gig will be the first time they've shared a stage with Carolyn since the band split up in the 90s. Run don't walk, Smeg. You'll have the time of your life.
Behad's is out, but I'm going to try and make the all star game get-together if I can just shake this G-D cold that's been kicking my ass since the beginning of the week. This weather isn't helping.
R2K - any chance you can put a few recent rocket game esp the clippers one, on dvd for me, bought a psp a few days ago and love to watch them on the way home
Smeg is not gonna like this, but I have to share.... So we're at my son's basketball game (I'm the coach) and I have Smeg as my guest assistant coach. Four seconds left in the first half, we have the ball in a time out. Smeg grabs the clipboard to diagram a play. My kids go out to run the play exactly as drawn, but the defense does not do what he expects. We throw an interception, the other team gets a 40 foot shot that goes in. Basically, he diagrams a three point play....for the other team. Everyone, follow the directions to the baseball fields tomorrow at noon, follow the signs to my house, we'll eat and then go bowling.
No softball? Weak. I'm all about driving 50 miles for baseball/softball, but bowling? I'll keep a close eye on this thread to see what you guys will end up doing. Maybe I'll just catch you guys at BW3.
Umm.. you're gonna have signs at the baseball field giving directions to your house? NOTE: here is a link to Google maps view of the baseball fields (in center of screen. Zoom in to see closer. Zoom out to see location.)
Harrisment...Yes, BW3's Rice village between 6 and 6:30 Miguel....What, you don't think bowling is good enough? What about my barbecue? droxford.....is your email on here good? I'll give you the rest of the directions. But yes, there will be signs from the baseball fields to my house.
