just as a reminder the setting for last year were

    QB 4 - 1
    RB 8 - 1
    WR 8 - 1
    TE 3 - 1
    PK 3 - 1
    UT 5 - 3
    DL 5 - 1
    LB 5 - 1
    DB 5 - 1
    DP 5 - 1

with the first number being roster max and second starter max

it would seem the first change would be to make all positions except QB, WR, RB have a roster max of 2 and then a roster max for QB of 3.. is that ok with everyone, what about RB and WR have many of each can be carried on a roster??

I'm here, been out of town.

I have to defend my title from the barbarians, naturally.

The changes sound all right right now. I'll read over it more in the morn.

Pued has been erratic in chat of late. He may be having computer problems again - I'll see if I can run down DVauthrin tonight in chat and find out for something sure on whether or not he wants to be in.

If he does want to be in and there is no one else that is dropping out, I will give up my spot to fade so he can come back.

Naw.. I don't want to be responsible for forcing anyone out (unless Smeg decides to boot someone for being inactive last year).

Thanks for the offer, though. :)

I think like last year but with more positional restrictions (3 qb's, 5 wr's, etc) is a good strategy. Although that takes out all of the fun for DoD.

    ok, lets get this rolling

i will re-up with Fanstar tonight and set-up the league site over the weekend, please drop me an email, if you didn't receive one from me previously so then i have everyone's current email address

Fade is in for Pood, if anyone else wants out or doesn't respond for the draft i have a mate who wants in

We need a suggested draft start date.. any ideas and dare i suggest we nominate a time for everyone to be around a knock it off in one sitting?

As league details here's my take...

unless i hear otherwise the scoring system will remain the same

starting positions (in brackets number you carry on team) for this year will be QB (3), RB(5), WR(5), TE(2), K(2), DL(2), LB(2), DB(2), 1xDefFlex, 3xOffFlex

how do people feel about 1 IL spot, let me know

just trying to workout a playoffs format.. suggestions would be great

do we want one division of two?? if we went with 15 spots, then 3 divisions of 5

One IR spot is fine by me.

3 divisions of 5 teams works in another league I'm in.

The 3 division winners and the team with the best record that does not win a divison (wild card) make the playoffs.

We are starting 4 defensive players? If so could we make it 4 players from any position? DL is a thin position that doesn't get you a lot of points. I would rather be able to start 2 LB's or 2 DB's + the flex position. Just a thought.

how about just 3 def flex then and lose DL all together

if we go 3 divisions of 5, that is 14 games, and leaves 3 for playoffs, so i was thinking the winner and runner-up of each division make the playoffs.... top two winners get week 1 of playoffs off, other winner plays lowest ranked second place team and other two second place teams play each other... two losers can play each other the following week for 5th/6th.... lowest ranked winner in week one plays the top ranked diivsion winner and two ranked division winner plays highest ranked winner from week 1 playoffs.... winners play for the title and losers play for 3rd

    does that make sense?

Defense --- I love the current DL, DB, LB + 1 Flex system. The 3 Def Flex system is boring because everyone just ends up using LBs for all the spots, which I always thought was extremely lame (I don't like the idea of close games being decided by third tier linebackers who nobody has heard of). The fact that DL is such a shallow, low-scoring position makes things much more interesting.

I would even suggest dropping the Def.Flex spot and just having 1 DL, 1 DB and 1 LB. This would shift a little bit of the emphasis away from defensive scoring and more to the offense (the heart of the team), while still keeping the novelty of having a few defensive players on the roster.

Draft --- Should probably start in the first week of August. These drafts usually take up to 3 weeks to complete, and with the early opening day this year, we should aim to have it finished before or during the last week of August.

You should get the random draft order determined ASAP. The sooner we know our draft slot, the better we can prepare. Do it live in chat some night this weekend.

Glad to be back in.

I like fade's idea for the def positioning. I like the idea of 3, 5 team divisions with Finn's playoff format. I'm not sure how we would use a IR spot (don't players that go on the IL in the NFL have to miss the season?), but I am not against it.

12 noon your time is 12 midnight Newf time. We are almost exactly on opposite ends of the planet. Just looked at a map and even our respective north/south distance from the equator is similar, the difference between them being only off by about ten or so degrees. That's pretty neat.
