Haha. Mamakota. A unique name yes? Well anyway, we do have an articulate bunch but this is basketball folks and not a debating team . They should use their heads and go win us some and let us journey again to the playoffs. I miss T-Mac
Eh, hate him or love him Tracy is a pretty smart player on the court. Very good passer, can play the point(because he can actually dribble....Trevor?) which he is doing for NY most of the time point-forward. And he has that lazy jump shot, which sounds like a insult, but what I mean is he just dribbles lazy like around a screen to his right then quickly shoots a jumper and it's smooth. With Ron, I think he is a smart player, but sometimes when he gets frustrated he just loses his mind. For example this year in the LA-Denver game he nearly punched that guy. And the LA announcers were like "Calm down Ron, please calm down Ron."
He may or may not be the smartest player on the team, but he did make the single dumbest play I can remember from last year: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fWFhsWMddx4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fWFhsWMddx4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Only in math... okay, enough of the stereotype. Being smart on court is not the same as being a smart person in general. Basketball IQ does not always translate to general IQ. People already pointed out that TMac is one of the highest BB IQ guys on court. But you can tell he made so many dumb statements and decisions off the court. Yao comes across as a smart guy. But his decision making on court is not very fast. That's why he makes some dumb mistakes at times.
We're very lucky to have some highly intelligent players on the team who aren't scrubs at the end of the bench, but players with talent enough to be big contributors in the rotation. Battier, Hayes, and Scola immediately spring to mind when I think of intelligence on the Rockets. All have physical limitations, but make the very most of the talent they have because of what they have upstairs. Players like them make the team better overall, in my opinion, and help on the court out of proportion to what one might expect when they're compared to players with often amazing physical skills. Yeah, we're damned lucky to have guys like that.
