I am not sure Yao has high basketball IQ. The degundification process has taken much longer time than expected.
Who can beat Dr J in the smartest? Dumbest academically? that would be the highschoolers.. yes, like lbj, stoudemire, howard and BROWN.
SAT's? Kobe Bryant is 30. While that is terrible...I'm guessing he's learned a lot since then. I'm going to go with Nick Young and Ben "We always confidence" Wallace as the dumbest. ...I can't add anyone who I would consider smart academically. I'm sure there are plenty of players who just never applied themselves because they knew their career was with the NBA and I'm sure there are others who had good grades in majors that I wouldn't consider tough.
Actually, you are wrong. The guy speaks multiple laguages. He's extremely intelligent. You should probably due some research on it before posting.
Did you not see the posted SAT score? Last time I checked, Duke requires a little more than speaking multiple languages, lol. I hate Duke, but give them a little more credit than that. Kobe probably would've struggled, if he got in at all, to get into A&M and UT with that score. That SAT score isn't terrible.. in fact, I'd say it's about average. I know several friends who got SAT scores like that, and I wouldn't consider them dumb. Just because someone's older doesn't mean they've been hitting the books. Kobe has life experiences, not academic ones.
I'd consider average America to be pretty stupid...and when I was in High School that SAT score was considered terrible. With that said, It has been about 13 years since Kobe took the SAT...it says nothing about what level he is at, academically.
It is pretty funny that someone said everyone the Nuggets were dumb except for Birdman when he is the only one on the team that was suspended from the league for 2 years.
From the current NBA populace, smartest, basketball-wise Billips, Nash and Roy dumbest, Basketball-wise Lamar Odom, Von Wafer, Ron Artest, Rasheed Wallace some of the dumbest NBAers of all time. Raymond Lewis was the nation's leading scorer in college; a first round pick for the 76ers, in the same year that they drafted Doug Collins, the Olympian the dumb azz Lewis negotiated his own contract w the 76ers, who low-balled him. nevertheless, the dumb-azz signed the low-balled contract in training camp, while Lewis was out-playing Collins, he also learned that Collin's agent had negotiated a contract ~ 4-5 times the value of his own. Realizing this inequity, Lewis left the team. some of his former teammates suggested that Lewis file a grievance, via the NBA players union, against the NBA and 76ers, as he was under age 21 when he signed the contract. Reggie Harding of the Detroit Piston
Just do some research on Kobe and tell me what you find. I saw his SAT score. That is certainly not the end all and be all of someone's intelligence. I understand that he would be going as a student athlete. Kobe's a very intelligent human being. What's funny is I'm not even a Kobe fan.
Again, I'm sure he is a bright guy. But the questioned posted was the smartest, academically speaking. For me, that means that they're well-read and versed in a wide variety of academic subjects. Just because you speak multiple languages doesn't mean you're amongst the smartest, which is only thing you've offered in Kobe's defense. His SAT score came out, and it was mediocre. Even this doesn't really matter - just because someone tested really well in high school doesn't make them academically smart if they never pursued that higher degree. Unless Kobe has been hitting the books during the summers, I seriously doubt he would be among the NBA's best if they were given a test on different academic subjects. Yes, he's very well-spoken and generally thought of as a bright guy. But that doesn't mean he knows calculus, history, or how the political system works.
more to add to the dumbest of all times Reggie Harding of the Detroit Piston after being cut by the team, short on $$$, the 6'10" Harding (w a handkerchief as mask) tried to rob a convenient store in the neighborhood that he had grown up. the store clerk then told him "Reggie, take off the F**ing mask". this scene was re-played in the movie "White Mean Can't Jump" Len Bias In a celebration party for being drafted #1 by the Celtic, he died of a heart atttack from using cocaine Earl Tatum of the LA Lakers He doesn't know about banks, often he would cash his semi-monthly payroll check at the hotel front desk, if he was on the road. As confirmed by one of his teammates, one time the hotel clerk asked him "in what denomination?", to which Tatum replied "Baptist" Benoit Benjamin of the Clips On a road trip, he travelled with 2 left-footed shoes.
Among the better academic guys are: 1. Went to G-Town to be a doctor. 2. I belive he had a pretty good GPA (3.5+?) at Duke, and was the President of college player association or something. 3.
I believe you're correct, however it is extremely difficult to find someone who's both eloquent and incredibly stupid.
I tend to believe Ray Allen is pretty smart. He's an avid art collector and one of the few players in the NBA that handles his own contracts.
