you never know, those terrorist killers work in mysterious ways.
Which is why torturing their children could help us plan for their next attack. :p

I'm not saying they do! I'm saying that when something like this happens people find a way to try to see if it somehow looks like 9-11 and anything that looks similiar in dates people notice. Just like the whole 06/06/06 thing. Someone pointed the date thing to me.. which tells me that.. I wouldn't have noticed that....

Whether it is upside down and then numbers switched a little or anything else.. people automatically think terrorism now.

Looks and seems like an accident. Hopefully the deaths are minimal.

From what they are saying on the news it sounds like an accident. I really hope it is. Hopefully the casualties will be limited. I heard so far that there are two reported deaths.

Wow - overreactions everywhere & I don't mean on this BBS...

The fact that NORAD scrambles fighters to cover major American CITIES shows that we are unprepared to deal with anything contextually, and scares me more than anything else.

This happened down the street from my office - the only thing to cross my mind was how bad it would mess up my commute.

The weather here is crappy right now - drizzle & low visibility. Unless the pilot was drunk, had a heart attack, or had a vendetta against someone in that building, look for weather to have layed a factor.

    A note from the boss:

"To: All New York Partners and Personnel

Subject: Update on E. 72nd Street Situation

As per my recent voice-mail, a small aircraft crashed into a residential high-rise on East 72nd Street at York Avenue, setting off a fire. The incident took place at 524 E. 72nd Street — about a mile and a half from our Park Avenue office. We are monitoring the situation and transportation issues, and at this time, we have been informed that the subways are running."

I agree though about date connections being kind of dumb. If we get scared on every date that resembles the 9-11 date.. we'd be scared way too much.

But you have to admit that many people thought about the fact that it is the 11th when they first heard about this plane hitting.

I guess things have changed. 5 years ago we assumed an accident at first, now we fear an attack.

This appears to just be a tragic accident.. very tragic.

Bottom of fox news has a thing up that says that nyc reports say that the plane was registered to Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle.

Looking for a link for this...

Yeah I totally agree. At first I didn't even remember that today was the 11th, but as soon as I heard that it definetly got me thinking. Things really have changed. On 9-11, before the information got out that it was an attack, many people thought it was an accident because we have never seen anything like it before. There have been some accidents with small planes hitting buildings, but never a commerical airliner hitting a skyscrapper.

I remember being in school when it happened and first hearing it was an accident and probably a drunk or something. The confusion on that date everywhere across the nation was staggering.

I remember sitting in school, first thinking how sad it was for such an accident to occur. All we really heard was that a plane hit one of the towers and there was a "hole" in it. I figured it was a small plane and an accident. Once I heard it was an attack and that there were more planes in the air taken over by terrorists, I panicked and feared that the US would sort've turn into Israel or something like that, with terrorist attacks all the time

Anyways I got way off point, but obviously since 9-11 happened, any strange story, like this, will be looked it as a
possible terrorist attack, before being thought of as an accident.

It looks like it was an accident and I hope that is what it is. Also, I hope everyone in the building gets out safe.

I like that we quickly got fighter planes into the air, etc.

Better to be safe than sorry.. it is a good sign that we were able to react quickly.

Here's what former teammate Arthur Rhodes once said about him:

"The only thing Cory Lidle wants to do is fly around in his airplane and gamble. He doesn't have a work ethic."

Wow. Is Wikipedia page is already updated.
