i don't disagree, juan...i just think when your first and second scoring options are both in the backcourt, that's a problem
I would like small ball if it were Kidd, Stockton, and Nash with two monster big men underneath. However, Francis, Mobley, and the Little Dribbler with SOMEDAY and MIGHT BE underneath, well you know, IT SUCKS! Fans to Rudy, LOSE CREATIVE, COME HOME TO BASICS! Remember plays, ball movement, player movement, passing, inside-outside, defense, dunks and lay-ins? ALL GOOD!
I agree with Beaver, if you have three guards in and you aren't running and gunning and pressing, you're an idiot. Also, when MJ was in his prime and Houston had Hakeem, I think we owned the Bulls, esp when we had Mad Max. It maybe that it's much harder to make up on the defensive end with sm all superstars than it is with big superstars.
I think the Suns and Lakers games are really representative of small ball. Jump shots were falling at the right time against the Suns and Walt got hot. So, if you are a fan of small ball, you could be doing a "see, I told you so, small ball rules". Then against the Lakers, small ball failed big time. Even with Walt hot again. If you think you can count on Walt on a consistent basis, I've got some investments I'd like to talk to you about. The starting frontcourt scored a combined total of 9 points. KT, our best frountcourt player took 6 shots in 35 minutes. Willis got some time and Collier got to run up and down the court a few times, but this was definately small ball all the way. Once, we had Stevie, Tierre, Mooch, Eddie and KT out there with Eddie guarding Shaq. I will say I admire the effort Eddie gave, trying to guard Shaq. Anyway, my point is that we can win some with small ball, but not consistently. Even with Steve in the lineup, we are still mediocre. Can this offense win much more than it does now with Steve in the lineup? I don't think so. If we were to add someone like a Lewis or Odom, would Rudy ****-can this offense and put in something they could contend with? Who the heck knows? If Mo Taylor were in there instead of Eddie, would that make a huge difference? I don't think so. I don't know why Rudy keeps going to this gimmicky offense. It's not situational, because he does it every freakin game. If we are trying to install an offense for the long term, and this is it, then we are doomed, regardless of who we pick up.
